Hela, the Goddess of Death, played by Cate Blanchett, is the main antagonist in Thor: Ragnarok. There was a rumor circulating that she will appear in Avengers: Infinity War and will join forces with Thanos (Josh Brolin), combining their strength to take the Infinity Stones. But the rumor ends up as a false, and it’s still a mystery whether Hela is dead or missing in action.

As the Goddess of Death, Hela has immense power. Even Asgardian soldiers are no match for her. She has a pact with Death that allows her to take the soul of the living and controls it. Even so, Thor beats Hela by reviving Surtur with the immortal flame and destroys Asgard.

2. Can Resurrect the Dead

As the Goddes of Death, Hela can resurrect the dead. She can also kill with a touch. Hela is immune to heat, pressure, and hard hits towards her body. In Thor: Ragnarok, Hela has loyal followers, and one of them is Fenris Wolf that she resurrected.

3. The Left Side of Her Body is Dead

In Thor #361, published by Marvel Comics in 1985, Hela’s left side of her body is dead. Thor successfully took her robe and saw that her right side is completely healthy while her left side is rotten and immoveable.

4. Can Kill with A Touch

As the Goddess of Death, Hela has the ability to kill anyone with a touch. This is a terrifying ability and makes her even more dangerous, but the power has a limit. The soul of those who she killed is gathered in Hel and will appear when she needed them.

5. Different Origin

In the comics, Hela has a different origin. Hela is a creature born in Jotunheim. She is believed to be the daughter of Loki and Angrbooa. She rules over two out of nine worlds in Niflheim -- Underworld, the world where the damned souls go after their death and Hel, the place where the half damned is sent after their death. When an Asgardian hero dies in a battle, they are sent to Valhalla by the Valkyries. But when the damned dies, their soul stays in their body until Hela curses them with her touch of death. Her touch will pull the soul out and send it to where it belongs.

7. Her Similarities with Loki

Both in the comics and MCU, Hela has many similarities with Loki. Both have a title, Hela is Goddess of Death and Loki is God of Chaos. Hela and Loki can use magic, although their magic is different. Also, Hela and Loki have the same goal, to destroy Asgard.

Hela’s abilities show her connection with Loki as her daughter. She can create a realistic illusion. She showcases this ability in The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes episode The Fall of Asgard when she creates an illusion of Captain America to convince the Avengers to stay in Hel.

Hela also owns a magic box that allows her to travel through time. According to Hela, every time and place is affected by death. In Dark Reign, Hela combines her power with Loki to travel to the past and complete their revenge to Thor.

9. Hela is Powerless without Her Robe

Hela is powerless with her robe. This is shown in Thor #361 published in 1985 when Thor found Hela’s weakness. By taking off her green robe, Hela reverts to her original form, where her left side is rotten and dead.

10. Allied with Thanos

In the comics, Hela once makes an offer to Thanos to work together and said that she needed Thanos’ aid to retake her throne. Hela promised Thanos that she could give her what Thanos desires the most, Death/Lady Death. Thanos is known for his obsession with Death.
