Hisoka Morow is an anti-hero in the Hunter X Hunter series. He had been an opponent and ally for Gon. This character is quite mysterious yet interesting to break down. In this article, Dunia Games wants to talk about the facts of Hisoka Morow that you need to know. Take a look at the article below!

1. A Antagonist Who is Not Fully Evil

Being one of the antagonists in the series, Hisoka is often depicted as a cruel figure. But actually, he only killed people he thought were likely to be killed, more precisely, those that caught his attention. He never kills just for fun.

If anyone is standing in his way, then Hisoka will finish them off, of course, it's just someone he thinks deserves to be killed. The red line is, Hisoka is a cruel character who is not completely evil.

2. Coloring Inconsistencies

Several changes between the Hunter X Hunter anime were released in 1999 and 2011. One of those changes is Hisoka's appearance. Hisoka had blue hair in the 1999 version, while his hair changed to red in the 2011 adaptation. The inconsistency also happens to his eyes. In the 1999 version, Hisoka had blue eyes, while his eyes became yellow in the 2011 adaptation.

3. Shares the Same Voice Actor with Pariston

Another interesting fact about Hisoka is that he has the same voice as Pariston. Both are voiced by Hiroki Takahashi, but Hiroki only voiced Hisoka in the 1999 adaptation. If you search on Google, you will find out that Hiroki Takahashi is also a singer.

4. The Theory Behind His Birthdate

The four protagonists in Hunter X Hunter have interesting birthdates. Leorio was born on March 3 (3/3), Kurapika was born on April 4 (4/4), Gon was born on May 5 (5/5), and Killua was born on July 7 (7/7). Why Killua wasn't born on June 6th? Killua should have been born on 6/6 so that there is no distance between Gon and him.

Uniquely, the one who was born on June 6 is Hisoka. Because of this, many fans theorize that Hisoka will become the fifth protagonist. If this theory were true, the story would be much more interesting.

5. The Name Behind His Technique

One of Hisoka's mainstay techniques is Bungee Gum. In one of the cameo appearances in the 1999 adaptation, which was Togashi's line, it is explained that Hisoka enjoyed chewing gum when he was a kid. Because his family was poor, he enjoyed chewing gum until the flavor turned dry.

While Bungee Gum is a brand of chewing gum that he had enjoyed as a child. This is why he named his flagship technique with that name.

6. His Relationship with Machi in the Manga

In the anime, Hisoka had invited one of the members of the Genei Ryodan, Machi, for dinner after his fight against Kastro. This may have made us curious, who is this woman who can attract Hisoka's attention?

The scene in this anime is different from the manga. In the manga, Hisoka even invites Machi to bed with her without having dinner.

7. His Introduction at the Hunter Exam

In Hunter X Hunter 2011, Hisoka was first shown in the hunter exam. At that time, there was a participant who accidentally nudged Hisoka. At that moment, both participant’s hands disappeared, described as disappearing into small flowers.

Whereas in the 1999 version, Hisoka only cornered the participant against the wall without injuring him at all. In the manga, Hisoka appears even crueler, mercilessly cutting off both of the participant's hands.

8. His Seiyuu's Other Roles

Hisoka's voice actor in the 2011 adaptation is Daisuke Namikawa. Not only starring in the Hunter X Hunter, but this voice actor also voices several characters in other famous anime such as Naruto, Bleach, One Piece, Demon Slayer,  and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. He even won an award for his performance in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

9. The Meaning of Number 4

Hisoka has been linked several times with the number 4. Hisoka's number in the hunter exam is 44. Then his member number at the Genei Ryodan is 4. You need to know that this is not a coincidence. In Japan, the number 4 is considered unlucky because it can be read as "death". This number is deliberately given to Hisoka who may often kill his opponent.

10. His Past is Written by Tokyo Ghoul Author

Hisoka's past serves as the prequel to the Hunter X Hunter series that tells of his life before the story. Uniquely, this one-shot manga was written by Tokyo Ghoul author, Sui Ishida.

This was originally an April Fools prank on Twitter, but this project was published. Although this is a non-canon story, Togashi admits that he is a fan of Ishida.
