Tifa Lockhart is one of the iconic characters in the Final Fantasy franchise. Since her first appearance, her name has become a part of pop culture. Many cosplayers try to turn into Tifa. especially when Square Enix keeps on updating Tifa Lockhart’s design making her more beautiful from time to time. 1. Initially Not a Protagonist

In the early development of Final Fantasy VII, Square Enix made plans for Cloud Strife, Barret, and Aerith to be the main characters. Tifa was a complementary character and will die permanently. But the character designed by Tetsuya Nomura finally becomes one of the protagonists and has her own story. Square Enix then introduces Tifa as a female character related to Cloud and becomes the core of Final Fantasy VII storyline.

2. The Meaning of Lockhart

Tifa is great when it comes to keeping her feelings a secret. She never blatantly show her feeling to the man she loves since her childhood. “Lockhart” can also be interpreted as “Lock Heart” which means Tifa will keep her jealousy secret when seeing Aerith flirt with the man she loves.

3. Tifa’s Title as Warrior of Materia

Tifa fights with her fists. With her fighting style, Tifa has an advantage with her free and unrestricted movement. Thanks to that, Tifa is categorized as an Assassin in Dissidia Final Fantasy NT. She is called Warrior of Materia thanks to her expertise in using various Materia.

4. Tifa Had a  Father

Tifa’s father is a citizen of Nibelheim that appeared in the flashback in the classic Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII: Last Order. Because of her father’s death, Tifa joins AVALANCHE to fight against Shinra and SOLDIER. Unfortunately, there is no information about her father’s name or origin.

5. Almost Have White Hair

Besides her beautiful face, Tifa Lockhart is known for her long black hair. No one will expect that in the initial design, Tifa had white hair. Yoshitaka Amano made an alternative design of Tifa with white hair and red glove and boots. But the design stood out too much so Square Enix chooses the design of Nomura.

6. The Reason for Her Sexy Costumes

As one of the iconic characters in the Final Fantasy series, You can meet Tifa Lockhart in other games. Besides appearing in final Fantasy, Tifa also appeared in Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring, Kingdom Hearts series, Itadaki Street series, Puzzle & Dragons, and Yo-kai Watch: Wibble Wobble.

When she joined AVALANCHE, Tifa shouts that she hates Shinra and SOLDIER right in front of Zack. Her words made many fans believed that Tifa hates Zack. However, Zack never hurt Tifa. In fact, Zack intends on helping Tifa. But, since he is a SOLDIER, many think that Tifa hates Zack. 

9. Becomes an Orphan When Was 8 Years Old

Tifa’s backstory is quite tragic. She becomes an orphan at a young age. Her mother is gone when she was 8 years old in the year 1995. But Tifa believed that her mother is still alive in the Nibel mountains. Five years after that, in 0000, Sephiroth burn down Nibelheim and kill every resident of the city. Tifa asked her father to go to the Nibel Reactor, but Tifa saw her father lying down with Sephiroth’s Masamune near him.

10. Her Long legs

Compared to other female characters in Final Fantasy, Tifa has a proportional body ratio that made her look like a supermodel with long legs. Her long legs allow Tifa to kick her opponent easily.
