Yamato is currently a character in One Piece that receives the most spotlight in Onigashima. This is because she is a very interesting character. 1. Ace's Best Friend

The reason why Yamato really wants to meet Luffy is that she’s Ace's best friend. Before Ace’s death, he once met Otama and Yamato at Wano. Back then, Ace also always told Yamato about Luffy. Yamato's first appearance in Onigashima made her an important character immediately because of her past relationship with other key characters like Kaido and Ace.

In chapter 985, Yamato also explained that she wanted to escape from Wano with Ace, but the circumstances did not allow her to do so. Since the age of 8, Yamato has been cuffed with explosive handcuffs so she can't escape. Before becoming friends, Yamato once sparring against Ace.

2. Kaido's Son

One of the most interesting things revealed in the Wano arc is the fact that Kaido has a child, and it’s none other than Yamato. Until the Onigashima arc, there hasn't been any information that explains Kaido's offspring, and not a single thought that Kaido has a child.

There is also a theory that says that Katakuri, Oven, and Daifuku are the children of Kaido and Big Mom. This is because there are similarities in Kaido's face with the three. It's just a theory among fans, we don't know the truth yet.

3. Owns Kozuki Oden's Journal

Since being expelled from Kuri, Oden began to write down his journey in a journal. There are many interesting things written in it related to Oden's adventures. He also wrote something about the anticipation of the second Joy Boy coming. After Oden's death, the journal was left in Kuri.

Yamato coincidentally found the journal and kept it until now. The journal was then given to Momonosuke who would later become Oden's successor as leader of Wano.

4. Able to Execute Raimei Hakkei

Raimei Hakkei is a technique that only Kaido can master. This is the finishing technique he used to finish off Luffy who challenged him for the first time. After being hit by this attack, Luffy was knocked unconscious and thrown into Udon Prison.

In One Piece episode 990, Yamato is seen using this technique to beat Ulti in her dinosaur form. Yamato also equips the same weapon as Kaido, a kanabo (spiked club). Ulti may be able to stand after receiving this attack, but she took a fairly serious wound, namely coughing up blood.

This fruit is considered very special by Kaido, but Yamato accidentally ate it. According to the explanation in chapter 1019, Yamato ate it because she was hungry.

7. Beaten by Kaido Numerous Times

Just like Ace who tried to kill Shirohige when he was alive, Yamato also tried to kill his father many times but also failed. That's why she needs Luffy's help to beat him. Yamato is indeed very strong, but she must work together with Luffy to be able to defeat her tyrant father.

In fact, the two female Straw Hat crews, Nami and Robin, were once in the opposing group (Arlong and Crocodile) before joining Luffy on his adventure.

Yamato is the daughter (formerly proclaimed as his son) of Kaido who is also the opponent of the Straw Hats. Therefore, there is a possibility that she could join the Straw Hats. 9. Imprisoned for 20 Years

It has been explained above that Yamato was imprisoned by Kaido since she was a child. But how long has she been in prison? Yamato was incarcerated in prison for 20 years from the age of 8. She freed herself at the age of 28, precisely when she heard the news of Luffy coming to Wano.

Yamato is a female from birth, but because she is a big fan of Oden, she wants to be identified as a man, to the point she claimed herself as "Kaido's son". Kaido himself thought of her as a man. In Tobi Roppo's conversation with Kaido, Yamato is referred to as "musuko" which means boy. Though Kaido should have called her "musume" or a girl.

Although we already know that Yamato's father is Kaido, we don't know any information about her mother. Looking at Kaido, it's very likely that he wouldn't marry an ordinary woman.
