Desperate, Ymir was injured and sought shelter inside the base of a large tree, where she fell into a sinkhole beneath it. She landed in a pool of liquid, where a mysterious spine-like parasite fused itself with her, turning her into the first Titan. With her newly-acquired power, she remained serving the Eldians.
2. Grew Up as a Slave
Ymir lived a difficult life throughout her years Eldia. She’s a captive of the Eldian empire whose village was raided and enslaved. In her entire life, she submitted to King Fritz by helping him build an empire, eradicating his opponents, and bearing him children.

5. Split Her Powers into the Nine Titans
As a reward for her service, King Fritz took Ymir as his concubine and had three children with her. Shortly after Ymir’s death, her dead body was consumed by her daughters to preserve her powers and pass them down through generations.
The tradition was perpetuated with every child of the royal blood would consume their parent’s corpse to retain the powers of the Titan. Ymir’s power was then divided into what eventually became known as the Nine Titans, with Ymir as the Founding Titan. This led to the Titans that the main characters encounter throughout the series.
