Throughout hundreds of episodes, Sanji’s origin has barely been told in the story. In the previous Whole Cake Island arc, the mystery has finally been revealed. In this arc, Sanji has a significant role. This also makes many fans adore the Straw Hat Pirates’ chef even more. Here are some things that you should know about Vinsmoke Sanji!

1. Fighting Style

Sanji is a fighter who doesn’t wield any weapon into fights, except for his legs. Sanji is able to launch powerful kicks from any angle. The reason he only fights using his legs is that he thinks hands are the most precious body parts. 

Sanji would never be able to forgive himself if he ever gets his hands dirty as they’re supposed to serve food. Due to his unique combat style, Sanji earned the nickname “Kuro Ashi” or “Black Leg”.

2. All Blue

Sanji’s main purpose in joining the Straw Hat Pirates is to look for the chef’s paradise called All Blue. The One Piece universe consists of four seas in which there are strange and mysterious creatures. Many believe that the All Blue is located at the point where these seas meet.

It is said that the All Blue is the place where the rarest kinds of wildlife, that can be used as food ingredients, live. As a chef, Sanji dreams of being able to visit that place one day. With that in mind, One Piece will certainly not be finished before Sanji finds the All Blue.

3. A Perv

Sanji is quite confident that he’s a true gentleman. Yet most of the time, Sanji has his minds filled with taboo, unspeakable things about women. He finds it very hard to control his fondness towards beautiful women.

As a result of not being able to control himself around women, Sanji often has his nose bleed. During the time skip, Sanji only practices with Okama or the Queers. For him, that place is a hell on earth, because there are no women around. When Sanji’s eventually able to see a beautiful girl after two years long, he could not help himself, up to the point that he’s suffering from a severe nosebleed. It was so horrible, so horrible that Sanji almost died from losing too much blood.

4. A Fiery Spirit

Sanji is a character with a burning passion. His spirit is often depicted with fire. Sanji is able to cast fire from his kicks that can inflict serious burns on his enemies. The fiery kicks is a product from the Diable Jambe technique. Aside from being able to burn enemies, this kick also has enormous power.

5. Time Skip

After practicing for over two years in Momoiro Island, Sanji became much stronger. Sanji spent most of his training time running away from the Okamas. Thanks to that, his stamina increased drastically, as well as his physical strength. Plus, the anger of being unable to see a woman for two years has made Sanji’s flame even hotter.

Sanji also has a different look after the time skip. He switched his hairstyle to cover his right eye.

6. His Dedication Towards the Straw Hats

After joining the Straw Hats, Sanji serves as the chef and vowed to serve the best and nutritious dishes for his friends. Sanji is fully aware of the importance of serving the best food for his friends, seeing many other pirates die of hunger and malnutrition.

Just like the other Straw Hats, Sanji is loyal to his captain, Luffy, who aims to be the Pirate King. He even sacrificed his life to save Luffy.

7. Zeff

After escaping from the Germa Kingdom, Sanji went to East Blue. There, he became the chef on a ship called Orbit. One day, Orbit was attacked by Zeff. Shortly after that, a great storm struck, destroying the entirety of Orbit and Zeff’s ship. Sanji and Zeff then got stranded on an island with only a little to eat.

Prior to that, Zeff sacrificed one of his legs to save Sanji who was drowning. This makes Sanji owes his life to Zeff, so he followed him to open their own restaurant.

8. The Vinsmokes 

Sanji is one of the members of the Vinsmoke Family who was abandoned by his own father, Vinsmoke Judge. From birth, each one of Sanji’s siblings has superhuman abilities. However, Sanji’s mother gave birth to Sanji as a normal kid, unlike his siblings. 

Because of that, Sanji had to go through a tough childhood full of insults and curses from his brothers. It’s only Reiju who has always been nice to Sanji, to a point that she helped him to escape from the Germa Kingdom.

9. Vinsmoke Sora

Aside from Reiju, Sora provided the motherly love and was the only family member who shows affection to Sanji. Sora was always supportive of whatever Sanji did. Since Sanji loves cooking, Sora was also supportive of her child’s passion, even that Judge hated it. After Sora passed away, Sanji had to go through worse days than before.

10. Raid Suit

At the end of the Whole Cake Island arc, Niji gives Sanji the Raid Suit by handing it over to Luffy. Sanji doesn’t have any intention to wear the Raid Suit, at least not if he does not desperately have to do so.

In the Wano arc, when he reached Page One, Sanji eventually had to wear the Raid Suit to hide his true identity. That suit grants Sanji increased speed and defense as well as invisibility.
