However, there are several villains who go through inspiring character development and turn into heroes, changing their perspective to save the world. Vegeta is one of the most popular villain-turned-hero. Initially, Vegeta was the antagonist, the main threat for Goku, including for Namek. Goku and Vegeta have been involved in numerous great battles, to the point that they became friends and focus on saving the world.
2. Gaara, Naruto
There are numerous villains who turned into heroes in Naruto, mostly due to the cliche speeches that Naruto makes. However, Gaara is probably the first evil character who changed his perspective because of Naruto’s speeches.
After an intense fight, Naruto and Gaara began to talk heart-to-heart about their shared feelings of isolation and pain. Since then, Gaara stopped hurting others and began to dedicate his life to protecting others.
3. Scar, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
Scar is probably one of the characters in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood with the best character development. Starting out as a villain who targeted State Alchemists to exact his revenge -- Scar was an intimidating presence.
As the story progresses, he set his pain aside to join forces with Al, Ed, and the others for a shared purpose -- peace.
4. Gajeel Redfox, Fairy Tail
Gajeel Redfox is known as the former member of the infamous guild, Phantom Lord. With the fall of the guild, Gajeel lost his purpose in life. Although he was trying to destroy the Fairy Tail Guild, Makarov invited Gajeel to join the Fairy Tail to give him a purpose show him the meaning of friendship -- although he still can’t forgive him entirely.
In the end, Gajeel showed his worth as a loyal and irreplaceable member of the guild
5. Sesshomaru, InuYasha
Sesshomaru is another villain with inspiring character development. He transformed from a ruthless demon who despises humans, into a kind-hearted individual who takes care of a little girl, Rin.
Thanks to Rin, Sesshomaru changed his perspective towards humans as she brings out his good side. He ultimately helped Inuyasha and his friends in defeating Naraku.

6. Nico Robin, One Piece
When she was first introduced in the series, Nico Robin was a cold-blooded, merciless killer. But that was until she met Luffy and other Straw Hats.
Nico Robin showed her good heart when she betrayed Crocodile to save Luffy. Ever since then, Nico Robin became part of the Straw Hats and began her long journey to heal from her traumatic past.
7. Hiei, Yu Yu Hakusho
Hiei is another character who’s introduced as a terrifying demon. However, after several conflicts, Hiei gradually turned into a kind-hearted character and even saved Yusuke from certain death.
8. Crona, Soul Eater
Crona is a character who had no evil intention, to begin with. However, their mother was the one who asked them to commit crimes. After they met Maka, Crona began to change their perspective and even fought their heartless mother.
9. Takasugi Shinsuke, Gintama
Takasugi wasn’t as evil as the other characters in the series, he actually has a good relationship with Gintoki and Katsura. Takasugi’s only goal is to exact his revenge on Bakufu and destroy the world.
But, when Utsuro emerged as the new threat, Takasugi joined forces with Gintoki and the others. Although he was lost in a dark path once, Takasugi managed to find the right path with the help of his friends.
10. The 13 Court Guard, Bleach
The 13 Court Guard, also known as Gotei 13, was seen as the main threat in the series. However, they were only doing their duty, keeping the Soul Society safe from intruders. Regardless of their evil deeds, in the end, the 13 Court Guard joined Ichigo and his friends’ side in the next arc.
