The Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak expansion is about to be released. Every expansion of this series brings new monsters, subspecies, or even some monsters from the previous titles.
Aside from some brand-new monsters, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak also brings some legendary monsters from the previous titles.
What monsters does Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak bring to the game? Without further ado, let’s get into it.
1. Malzeno
Malzeno is the new vampire-inspired Elder Dragon that shares some resemblance with a bat. This monster can cause the Bloodblight effect/status, which drains the player’s HP and limits their health regeneration. However, if the player attacks the monster while in this state, they will recover some HP equal to the damage they inflicted.
2. Lunagaron
Lunagaron is the new Fanged Wyvern that looks similar to a wolf. It’s of the ice element, which it also uses to protect itself. As it took inspiration from a wolf/werewolf, Lunagaron can stand on its hind legs.
Just like other Fanged Wyverns, Lunagaron is highly agile and can jump off walls and large rocks with ease. It can even perform acrobatic movements and successive attacks using its front legs.
3. Garangolm
Garangolm is a giant Fanged Beast that bears resemblance to a gorilla. Its back is covered with a thick green-brown shell, which reaches to its head, forming a giant crown and chin plate.
Interestingly, Garangolm also has a thick, long, and pronged tail that looks similar to Bishaten’s.
Aside from its tremendous strength and solid body, Garangolm can also emit some sort of sap that accelerates plant growth. This causes various plants to grow all over its body, allowing it to harness the element of fire and water simultaneously.
It can also use the sap to harden its body or the soil around it. When enraged, Garangolm’s right arm will burn with molten heat whereas its left arm will sprout mossy growths that drip water, causing Fireblight and Waterblight respectively.
4. Seregios
Seregios is a medium-sized bipedal wyvern covered with gold scales. It has red markings on its face that spreads from its eyes to its body, and its head has a curved horn.
It has zygodactyl (bird-like) feet, with two toes facing forward and the two others facing backward.
Seregios can shoot its scales at players and use its feet and talons to slash and grab its prey.
5. Astalos
Astalos' body is mostly covered in sharp, dark green plating, though it has a more bright-colored underside. Unlike most Flying Wyverns, its wings resemble those of an insect.
Astalos is highly aggressive towards Hunters and other monsters alike.
Astalos can generate green electricity by moving and rubbing its body platings, in which it can release this electricity from its wings, tail, and horn.
Its wings have sharp claws, which it uses in ferocious dive-bombing attacks. It can paralyze prey with a strike from its tail, as well as fire bolts of electricity from it.
Its horn can create a blade-like current of electricity, which extends the range of its horn attacks and also imbues them with the Thunder element. It can also breathe blasts of electricity which can split into two pillars upon impact with the ground.
6. Shogun Ceanataur
Shogun Ceanataur is capable of firing a stream of pressurized water from its shell. In addition, it is able to climb on walls and ceilings and can extend and retract its scythe-like claws.
Another bizarre defense mechanism from Shogun Ceanataur is its own urine. While wearing a skull and hanging on a ceiling, Shogun Ceanataur is known to spray water on their enemies from the ceiling.
Shogun Ceanataur's body is covered in a blue carapace. Its head is long and knife-shaped and features a pair of lengthy antennae. Its folding claws act as sickles, and in rage mode extend to double their length, adding a significant amount of range to its reach.
7. Daimyo Hermitaur
Daimyo Hermitaur has a large, crab-like body. This monster is covered in a red and white carapace and wears the skull of a Monoblos as a protective shell. It has broad, shield-like claws and long antennae.
It can use its claws as shields to defend itself from attackers, and, just like the Monoblos, can also use them to dig into the earth in order to attack foes from beneath the ground. It can shoot pressurized jets of water and can use its massive weight to crush enemies.

8. Gore Magala
Gore Magala is a very unique wyvern, sharing traits and similarities to that of the Elder Dragons, possessing six limbs, including the clawed wings on its back. Though, its overall appearance and stance resemble a quadrupedal wyvern.
Its body is covered in dark exoskeleton plates, with notable features including the hidden feelers that are folded alongside its face, the lack of visible eyes, and fanged jaws that are actually parts of its external armor plates.
Another unique part is its wings, which are covered in jet-black fur that resemble a tattered and ragged cape.
The pollen-like scales of Gore Magala are used to understand their environment and leave behind a trail that Gore Magala uses to see both predators and prey by heat, and also act as the vector for the pathogen known as the Frenzy Virus.
As Gore Magala's senses increase and become better from these scales, the color under its wings will slowly change and get brighter. When its senses are at their highest peak, two feelers will poke out from its head and it will release large amounts of scales into the air.
9. Espinas
Espinas physically resembles a Rathian, but alongside scales, its body is covered in hot pink spikes full of venom and rough green armor plating. A long, pink, venom-filled horn protrudes from the front of its head, in a similar fashion to Monoblos.
Venomous thorns also protrude from its body, wings, tail, feet, and head. Its body, tail, and feet are bigger and more muscular than those of other Flying Wyverns. It also has four pink claws.
Espinas has the ability to shoot toxic fireballs that cause both Poison and Paralysis upon impact. Aside from that, most of its physical attacks cause poison status as well due to the thorns. Espinas also has the ability to charge at great speed whilst ramming with its horn.
10. Lucent Nargacuga
Also known as the Moon Swift Wyvern, Lucent Nargacuga can turn invisible and uses its tail to attack its targets.
It can also extend its spikes by shaking its tail, even when not enraged. While in this mode, all of its tail attacks cause venomous spikes to fly out.
11. Pyre Rakna-Kadaki
Pyre Rakna-Kadaki looks quite similar to a standard Rakna-Kadaki, but with several key differences; her body is now light gray with glowing orange hooks, and her webbing is now black. Her horns are now much longer, giving her a demonic appearance.
Like a common Rakna-Kadaki, she uses her webs to capture prey. However, she also inflicts Blastblight alongside using fire. She also uses her youngins, the Pyrantulas, in more attacks than a standard Rakna-Kadaki, attaching fuse-like webs to them and igniting them to cause large explosions.
12. Blood Orange Bishaten
Blood Orange Bishaten is similar in appearance to a standard Bishaten. However, its body is predominantly orange-pink instead of the standard blue-white. The tips of its wings are yellow, and various parts of its body (face, legs, tail) are white.
The main difference between Blood Orange Bishaten and the normal Bishaten is the Blood Orange Bishaten's ability to breathe fire. Another key difference is that instead of throwing persimmons, Blood Orange Bishaten throws highly explosive pine cones which it can ignite with its' fire breath or through impact force.
13. Magma Almudron
Magma Almudron uses its tail to spread magma along the ground. It can also dig into the hot volcanic ground, to heat up some of its body parts. It can also hold a magma ball with its tail like how the normal Almudron holds a mud ball.
14. Aurora Somnacanth
Instead of sleep mist, Aurora Somnacanth uses powerful ice attacks such as an ice beam, a cry that can cause several frost explosions.
