Boruto: Naruto Next Generation is fun to watch because there is a tough villain who also provides interesting conflicts. The Shinobi village called Konoha seems to be getting a new threat from someone named Jigen who is very strong, even Naruto and Sasuke who fought together were unable to defeat Jigen who was alone.

Who is Jigen? Jigen is a novice monk who becomes a vessel for Isshiki Otsutsuki, and eventually his body is completely taken over by Isshiki. Here are the 15 facts about Jigen, the strongest enemy in Boruto: Naruto Next Generation!

1. Jigen was a Monk Possessed by Isshiki

When Kaguya Otsutsuki and Isshiki Otsutsuki arrived on earth, Jigen was just a novice monk. Kaguya and Isshiki previously feuded because of their different goals, after Isshiki was abandoned by Kaguya, Isshiki attacked Jigen, where he shrunk himself and entered the poor monk's ear to survive.

2. Isshiki Otsutsuki’s Temporary Vessel

As Jigen's nutrients are absorbed from his body, Isshiki begins to gain control over Jigen's body. After that, Isshiki embeds his Karma in Jigen's body. But as Jigen’s body was not strong enough to support him, Isshiki chose not to revive himself in Jigen, Isshiki waited until a more suitable vessel could be found in the future.

3. Founder and Leader of Kara

In an attempt to smooth his plans, Isshiki uses Jigen's body to form a secret organization called Kara to help achieve his goals. This evil organization is like Akatsuki in Naruto Shippuden, only Kara is far superior in science and technology.

4. Bought Kawaki to be Made Into the Next Vessel

Eventually, Jigen finds and buys a child named Kawaki from his abusive biological father, to use as a potential new vessel. After taking custody of the child, Jigen introduces himself as his new father but instead takes advantage of his adopted son.

He would later attempt to transfer Karma to Kawaki and fourteen other boys in a sadistic experiment conducted with the help of a Kara scientist named Amado. Kawaki became the only child who survived the cruel experiment with thirteen other children dying horribly.

5. Ruthlessly Trains Kawaki

Despite promising his safety, Jigen puts Kawaki in a ruthless and grueling training to master Karma and will constantly berate him because Kawaki’s only value is as a vessel. He would also hit the boy every time he questioned his purpose in life. That's why Kawaki turns cold and gloomy.

6. Has a Ten-Tailed Bijuu

Like the rest of Kara, Jigen's body has also been extensively modified by Amado's Scientific Ninja Tool. Isshiki planned to use Jigen as food for the Ten-Tailed Bijuu.

This will fulfill the requirements so that it can bloom into a God Tree, although the Chakra Fruits produced will be of lower quality due to the monk's poor health and strength.

7. Always Look Young Due to Isshiki’s Influence

Despite living since ancient times, Jigen maintains his youthful physique due to Isshiki Otsutsuki's influence. He was a fairly tall man with fair skin. He had his head shaved all around, but on top of the crown he had long black mohawk hair tied up in a long ponytail that reached his lower back.

Jigen has no eyebrows, but has a wide nose, and big black eyes. Moments after Isshiki took over him, he got a black diamond-shaped Karma mark on his chin and a tattoo of the Roman numeral "IV" under his left eye. The area around its belly is black. She also wears five red earrings on the top of each ear and an additional one on the bottom of each ear.

8. A Stylish Villain

In his first appearance, Jigen wore a black hooded robe with a maroon lining typical of the Kara members, along with light colored capri pants and sandals, as well as a dark collar. In a later appearance which is quite Stylish, he wears a white robe with black vertical stripes on the sleeves and tail of the coat and his personal crest on the back.

Loosely tied around her waist was a tufted belt, worn with a matching red hair tie. Collars, belts, bracelets, and pants, all decorated with red pearl buttons, and wearing simple sandals.

9. Jigen is the Strongest in Kara

Without accessing his full power Jigen can still simultaneously resist and withstand the attacks of Naruto and Sasuke Uchiha, who are the two strongest Shinobi in history. When Isshiki decided to put his full power into Jigen's body, he was able to defeat Naruto and Sasuke.

These two strongest Shinobi brought Jigen to his limits, where upon accessing his full power Jigen was able to decisively defeat them both. By sealing Naruto in a giant bowl and almost killing Sasuke. The fierce battle weakened Jigen so much that he was forced to postpone his plans to retrieve Kawaki due to the healing process at Kara's headquarters for several days.

11. Uses a Black Rod

As Isshiki's vessel, Jigen's body is capable of channeling various abilities of Celestial Beings. He can produce black rods that are able to drain chakra from his victims and can also shrink matter to a microscopic size and easily return it to normal very quickly.

He can also manifest stored objects from other dimensions, which can be done with the slightest movement such as a wave of his hand or even just the snap of a finger. He uses this ability to launch a black rod at a microscopic size into the body of his impaled enemy without making them realize how small the rod is, then restores the small rod to its original large size to instantly inflict severe injuries on the enemy's body.

12. Sasuke’s Sharingan Revealed Jigen’s Ability 

Jigen can also enlarge his black rod whenever he needs to to counter attacks from his enemies. He can also apply this resizing ability to his own body, allowing him to seemingly disappear from his opponent's sight and maneuver around the battlefield. As if teleporting, Jigen's ninjutsu is fast enough to catch great men like Naruto and Sasuke off guard.

The limitations of this ability remain unknown, but Sasuke is able to track his movements even at microscopic sizes thanks to his Sharingan. After activating the full power of Karma, Jigen became able to use this ability to a greater extent, being able to spontaneously summon a large black rod quickly to immobilize Naruto and Sasuke and even forming the rod from his neck to deflect Sasuke's sword attacks that nearly decapitated him.

13. A Great Taijutsu User

Jigen is a highly skilled taijutsu user with both weapons and hand to hand combat, and has personally trained Kawaki to be a specialist in close combat. He has shown incredible speed and strength. He effortlessly kicked Naruto away, impressing the Seventh Hokage with his reaction.

14. Immense Chakra Pool

As Isshiki's vessel, Jigen has an immense chakra pool, compared to Naruto in his Sage Mode form. When he activates his Karma transformation state, his chakra is so intense that it intimidates Sasuke into escaping from another dimension as Naruto is sealed in a giant bowl.

Even without using his Karma power, Jigen's evil chakra was strong enough to scare Ino Yamanaka into almost unconsciousness, while she only felt a slight reaction when she sensed Delta chakra.

15. Powerful Karma

Jigen has the Karma mark on his chin, resulting in various powers on him including the longevity he possesses, keeping him at his best youthful physique for over 1,000 years. The power of Karma can be activated at will, causing it to spread throughout his body in an even sunburst pattern.

He is able to give Karma to others through the help of science, though with a low success rate, and is often at risk of death. Because he is the one who marked Kawaki, he can sync with Kawaki's Karma to open a portal directly to his location.
