One of the popular anime characters in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations named Kawaki is now the center of this anime about shinobi. Kawaki seems to take a large portion of screen time and focus on the series.

1. A Cool Young Man

As one of the cool characters like Sasuke and Sai, Kawaki also has a handsome face like the head of defense and the head of the Konoha intelligence agency. A man of few words and rarely spotted smiling, this shinobi named Kawaki also seems to have a Tsundere nature.

2. Dark Childhood

His father was a drunkard and his mother whose whereabouts were unknown, those were his circumstances growing up. According to his drunken father, Kawaki was just an empty child and was only useful for beatings. The ungrateful father then sells him to Jigen, a dangerous figure.

3. Jigen and Amado’s Experiment Subject

The potential in Kawaki is what attracts Jigen, the head of Kara, to buy Kawaki from his biological father. Instead of loving Kawaki like his own son, Jigen and Amado, a scientist and researcher from Kara, experimented on him alongside other children. The dangerous experiment killed many innocent children and only Kawaki survived because of the rare potential in his body.

4. Modified Body

Kara’s science and technology are indeed very sophisticated and advanced beyond the civilization of Konoha and other shinobi  villages, Kawaki's body is very sophisticated because of Amado and Jigen’s experiments. Regeneration is the hallmark of Kara, destroyed body parts of any Kara member can grow back almost instantly. Unless the body was hit by a powerful attack from another Kara member, such as Kawaki's hand being hit by Delta's beam.

5. Karma Seal 

The Tattoo on his body is actually the Karma seal, a power that can suck chakra and various forms of energy. Jigen developed Kawaki’s karma to be the next Isshiki Otsutsuki container, and to make Kawaki a weapon that lacks purpose in life and happiness.

6. His First Fight with Boruto is Over the Toilet

At first, Kawaki didn't get along with Boruto, Kawaki also didn't trust Boruto at first. The son of Naruto initially didn’t trust Kawaki too, they had a fight over fighting over the toilet. The enmity gradually became like a trivial feud between siblings, Kawaki and Boruto finally got along and protected each other like true siblings.

7. Chocho Likes Him

His handsome face attracts many females in Konoha. The Taiyaki shop was the place where Kawaki first met Chocho, and Chocho sneakily glanced at him. Choji Akimichi's daughter, who loves to eat like her father, even ignores Taiyaki at the shop that Kawaki, Naruto and Sarada visited, because Chocho keeps an eye on Kawaki and thinks he's good looking.

8. Naruto Treats Him Like His Own

Naruto adopting Kawaki is the most astonishing fact in Boruto:Naruto Next Generations. Maybe it’s because Naruto knew the pain of being ostracized and growing up alone because of the power lying within their body.

9. Severed His Arm to Protect Himawari

Kawaki is also willing to sacrifice without thinking for the sake of the people around him. Delta, the sadistic woman from Kara, who attacked Konoha ruins Naruto's training with his children, Himawari and Boruto.

Almost hit by Delta's powerful laser attack, Himawari and Naruto were pushed away by Kawaki who was there and the attack immediately destroyed his arm. Naruto Uzumaki saw this and immediately turned into Kyuubi mode to beat Delta.

10. His New Arm is Connected to Naruto’s Chakra

Like Naruto who had lost an arm when fighting Sasuke, Kawaki also has a prosthetic arm. Kawaki's new prosthetic arm uses Konoha's technology, which is far from the scientific sophistication of Kara, but at least Kawaki got a replacement that uses Naruto's Chakra with the concept of Chakra division as in Kage Bunshin no Jutsu.

When Naruto is asleep or dies, Kawaki's new hand will not work because Naruto's Chakra is lost. This is why Naruto and Kawaki grow closer like father and son, Kawaki can feel Naruto's presence wherever he is because it is connected to Chakra energy like that, it even becomes an indicator whether Naruto is still alive or not when the seventh Hokage was kidnapped by Jigen to another dimension and held captive a big bowl.

11. Naruto Made Him His Student

Many people know that Konohamaru is Naruto Uzumaki's only disciple, but the seventh Hokage also makes Kawaki his student. Naruto’s training for Kawaki was very intense, the method prohibits Kawaki from using his Karma during training in throwing shuriken and kunai which had to be imbued with Chakra.

The training period with Boruto became a fun experience for Kawaki as a family, compared to the cruel, torturous training Jigen had done to him from a young age.

12. Shikamaru had a Hard Time Trusting Him

Shikamaru continued to suspect Kawaki. The young man who came from Karawas suspected to be a spy told to infiltrate Konoha. When Jigen suddenly appeared in Konoha and attacked the Naruto Uzumaki family's residence, Shikamaru and some of his men immediately locked Kawaki up so he couldn't go anywhere, even tying him up with Shikamaru's shadow moves.

The disappearance of the Seventh Hokage and Jigen's attack on Konoha suddenly made Shikamaru even more distrustful of Kawaki because Jigen came from a portal that emerged from Karma in Kawaki's hands. Even though Kawaki managed to save Naruto from another dimension, Shikamaru still didn't believe Kawaki and continued to interrogate him.

13. The New Member of Team 7

Sarada, who became the leader of Team 7, seemed to trust Kawaki,  the newest member of Team 7. Boro, a member of Inner Kara who is hard to beat because of his regeneration ability, can be weakened by Sarada thanks to the information from Kawaki.

14. Can Combine His Karma with Boruto

Having a Karma makes him another vessel for Otsutsuki just like Naruto’s son. Uniquely, Kawaki's Karma with Boruto can unite and resonate, just like when they created a portal that could take Team 7 to another dimension to save Naruto.

The Rasengan released by Boruto can be enhanced by Kawaki when he transfers his chakra to Boruto, like during the battle against Boro. Kawaki and Boruto's Double Team moves are something really cool in this anime.

15. Love Custard Taiyaki

Kawaki's favorite food is Custard Taiyaki. When Shikadai and Inojin visited Kawaki at the hospital, they asked him about which food he wanted to eat. Remembering Sarada's recommendation when shopping at the Taiyaki shop with Naruto, Kawaki immediately chose a fish-shaped cake filled with Custard cream.

The expression of joy from eating the delicious snack immediately showed on his face, becoming something that rarely happened to cool characters.
