1. Closest to One Piece

Shirohige's age before his death at Marineford was 72 years, followed by Big Mom, who is 68 years old, Kurohige is 40 years old, and Shanks is 39 years old. Kaido's age is unknown so that makes Shirohige the oldest known Yonkou.

According to the author, Kaido is probably 65-70 years old. If it's true, then Shirohige remains the oldest Yonkou.

8. His Name Based on a Real Pirate

Maybe you don't know that Shirohige's name was inspired by a real pirate. The original pirate name that inspired him was Edward Teach. It was he who inspired Oda to name Edward Newgate and Marshall D. Teach. While the name Newgate may be inspired by the Newgate Prison, a famous prison in the real world that imprisoned many pirates in the past.

9. The Meaning of Shirohige

Shirohige means white beard. He got the nickname because his beard is white. His real name is Edward Newgate, so far, only Roger is known to call him by his real name.

Then Blackbeard means black beard. Just like Shirohige, he got the nickname because his beard is black.

10. His Unique Laugh

Just like most characters in One Piece, Shirohige had a unique laughing voice. His laughing voice sounded like the name of his devil fruit, Gura Gura no Mi. "Gurarara", the sound of his laugh.

12. Inspired by Oda's Colleague

Based on the information contained in One Piece Yellow: Grand Elements, Shirohige's character was inspired by an acquaintance of Oda at the shop he used to visit. Oda also revealed that the shop assistant died in 2007.

13. Gura Gura no Mi

Most of you probably already know that Shirohige was the eater of the Gura Gura no Mi. The Gura Gura no Mi gives its user the ability to create earthquakes. The main reason why he was called the strongest human being was because of this devil fruit.

With the earthquake he produced, Shirohige had the potential to destroy the world if he wanted to. After dying at Marineford, Shirohige's abilities were stolen by Teach. That's why Teach took his place as the new Yonkou.

14. His Weapon's Name

Murakumo Giri is the name of the weapon that Shirohige used to fight. This naginata weapon is one of the 12 highest-class blades in the world (Saijo O Wazamono).
