The Undertaker is a legendary wrestler who was still wrestling as he entered his mid-50s with a match against AJ Styles at WrestleMania 36. His fans had mixed reactions to the Undertaker returning to the ring to get his wrestling career back on track. The Undertaker has endured some embarrassing bouts in his last few matches which left many wondering if this old wrestler should continue his career.
Undertaker's decades of proven loyalty and accomplishments to WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) mean that he will always have a place to return to in World Wrestling Entertainment. We're going to take a look at some interesting things about The Undertaker's life and career that you may not have known. The Undertaker's 30 years career made him the most iconic wrestler with his horror gimmick. Here are the 15 facts about him!
1. Never Treated Like a Superstar in the 90s
Fans see The Undertaker often running the main World Wrestling Entertainment event from start to finish. World Wrestling Entertainment did take advantage of it in the main event at first, but Undertaker was usually a notch below the superstars. Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Diesel, Steve Austin, and The Rock are treated better than him. Throughout the 1990s, the Undertaker had the odd momentum that ended without a title and didn't become a main character at WWE's main event until the 2000s.
2. The Undertaker’s First Title Didn’t Last Long
It was a shocking moment when The Undertaker beat Hulk Hogan to win the World Wrestling Entertainment championship title in 1991, but sadly it didn't feel like an actual title. Hulk Hogan took the title back a few days later through controversial methods. World Wrestling Entertainment went with this controversial storyline to vacate the title at the 1991 Royal Rumble match.
3. Undertaker’s Second Title Was a Sudden Change
WrestleMania 13 feels like The Undertaker's first World Wrestling Entertainment championship win over Sycho Sid in the main event. This was not in the plans until World Wrestling Entertainment was forced to make last-minute changes. The retirement of Shawn Michaels ended a planned match between him and Bret Hart. Undertaker's hard work was rewarded with a major event card and title for him.
4. Undertaker Hated Shawn Michaels
Shawn Michaels' antics as the Heartbreak Kid (HBK) in the 1990s made him the most hated person in World Wrestling Entertainment. Michaels' prowess in the ring helped him overcome the headaches he often experienced working as a wrestler.
The Undertaker is one of the few wrestlers not to defend Michaels as the leader of the wrestlers. One scenario even featured the Undertaker threatening Shawn Michaels during a scene indicating he refused to lose to Steve Austin at WrestleMania 14.
5. Defeated by The Great Khali
The Great Khali was a huge project of World Wrestling Entertainment when the tall wrestler from India debuted in 2005. The Undertaker was tasked with making The Great Khali look great in hopes of creating a new main wrestler. The Great Khali's appearance and debut match saw him crush the Undertaker. The legend helped launch the new wrestler successfully, until finally The Great Khali became so iconic as giant wrestlers like Undertaker and Kane.

6. Married to Michelle McCool
Michelle McCool and The Undertaker have been living together for about a decade now. World Wrestling Entertainment went to great lengths to avoid revealing this fact until a few months ago. It was AJ Styles who persuaded Michelle McCool in a surprising way to witness considering how World Wrestling Entertainment handled it in the past. As his wife, Michelle McCool won't even be shown on camera when she sits in the front row to watch the Undertaker game.
7. Changed to Biker Gimmick in the American Badass Era
During the three years of the American Badass era, The Undertaker went into a new direction with his gimmick. The Undertaker rides his motorcycle into the ring, becoming a completely different person from his previous impression as a wrestler with a horror gimmick. Many people like this American Badass character, especially since its iconic appearance is always accompanied by a song called Rolling by Limp Bizkit which became a cultural milestone in the 2000s.
Unfortunately, World Wrestling Entertainment doesn't always agree to this because the Deadman Walking character who is more compatible with Undertaker has been an icon of World Wrestling Entertainment for a long time. Finally, the Undertaker left the American Badass gimmick and returned to his horror gimmick according to the name The Undertaker, which means burial businessman or grave digger.
8. Undertaker’s Undefeated Record
Shawn Michaels was nicknamed “Mr. WrestleMania” for an incredible number of matches even though he lost more in WrestleMania events. The Undertaker's unbeaten run is a huge draw, but his matches at the WrestleMania are less than that of the 2000s decade. Randy Orton, Batista, Shawn Michaels, Triple H and CM Punk are the wrestlers who have fought WrestleMania with the Undertaker.
9. Attacked Kurt Angle for His Loyalty to Vince McMahon
The close relationship between Vince McMahon and The Undertaker made him never leave World Wrestling Entertainment. Kurt Angle learned this the hard way when Vince McMahon lured him into an amateur wrestling bout on an airplane. The Undertaker didn't realize they were playing games and instead attacked Kurt Angle when he saw his boss was in trouble.
10. He Made Vince McMahon Apologize to Bret Hart
The Undertaker will also hold Vince McMahon accountable if necessary. Vince's famous scene at the Montreal Screwjob shows the Undertaker demanding that Vince speak to Bret Hart in the locker room. The apology actually resulted in Vince McMahon being punched in the face by Bret Hart.
11. Undertaker’s Confusion Facing Hall of Fame
World Wrestling Entertainment clearly wants to induct The Undertaker into the Hall of Fame, but rumors in the past claim that he doesn't want to throw away his character to deliver such a speech. The Undertaker has started appearing in World Wrestling Entertainment documentaries and on Steve Austin's shows by not acting as his character. That's why the Walking Deadman has never attended the Hall of Fame which usually features wrestlers making speeches without their gimmicks and sitting in the audience.
12. Had Wrestled in the WCW
The Undertaker's humble beginnings were as "Mean" Mark Callous with World Championship Wrestling or WCW. Mean's character never stood out in WCW and seemed destined to be a big person who actually failed. Luckily, WWE signed him and saw something special. The Undertaker gimmick was given to him and he ended up making a long history.
13. Had Performed for Wrestling Organizations Outside WWE
The Undertaker has begun taking work outside of WWE to provide autographs and photo sessions together at a wrestling convention. His New York City fans can see the Undertaker at The Big Event alongside former wrestlers like Bret Hart. The Undertaker even agreed to attend the Starrcast until WWE made him cancel because of WWE's bad relationship with AEW.
14. Upset with Mick Foley's Character Change
Mick Foley revealed that The Undertaker was upset about his character change to Dude Love on the WWE Network. The Undertaker did a lot to help Mick Foley forget about the quirky Mankind character and hate comedic characters like Dude Love. That Dude Love gimmick feels like a waste of all the effort they put in together. Fortunately Mick Foley still has another gimmick, namely Cactus Jack which is more frightening.
15. Wasted A WrestleMania Main Event with His Fake Retirement Plot
The only reason the duel Roman Reigns versus The Undertaker was held and made the main event of WrestleMania 33 was the Undertaker's retirement. After Roman's victory, the Undertaker left his hat and gloves in the ring to symbolize that he left everything in the ring as a goodbye. This highly emotional moment ended up meaningless as the Undertaker returned to wrestling again for three years.
