Young GTO is the dorama series that airs for the first time last February. The drama follows the life of Onizuka Eikichi and Danma Ryuji during their high school years. There are reasons why you, as a fan of dorama, need to watch this. Let’s get straight into the reasons below!

1. Prequel to the Live-Action GTO

Although it features a different set of cast, Young GTO is the prequel to the live-action GTO, which means that this Japanese drama tells the past life of the main character, Onizuka Eikichi. Die-hard fans of the GTO series and Onizuka-sensei will definitely don’t want to miss this dorama.

In Young GTO, we will also be shown the reason why Onizuka got his aspiration of becoming a teacher, as well as the origins of the nickname “Great Teacher”. Onizuka and Ryuji were indeed bad boys during their high school years, but never once did they go up against the teachers who were right.

2. Epic Fights

For you fans of the epic high school fight scenes, like in Crow Zero or Kyou Kara Ore Wa, Young GTO is definitely a must-watch. Onizuka is known as a monster in his neighborhood, probably as strong as Takiya Genji in Crow Zero.

As a member of the Onibaku, Onizuka and Ryuji are often challenged by many other thugs, including Toshiyuki Saejima, who will join them later in the story. And of course, their fights are based on conflicts and quarrels that will make you feel provoked.

3. Full of Comedy Moments

Young GTO doesn’t get rid of the comedic elements which were the mainstay of the previous series. Aside from the epic fights, we’ll also be entertained by the silly things done by Onizuka and Ryuji in overcoming their hardships, though sometimes the comedies are aimed for adult audiences.

A dorama with no comedic elements in it would be a bit stale. From the way Onizuka and Ryuji look for girlfriends to their silly conversations with their peers, all of them will surely get you crack.

4. Spiced up with Romantic Scenes

While in the previous GTO we could rarely see a romantic scene, in Young GTO, there are some romantic scenes from both Onizuka and Ryuji who came close to getting a girlfriend. Alas, this far, they’re still single.

At this moment, Young GTO had only aired 6 episodes. Perhaps there are 6 more episodes before the end. It’s possible that we’ll see how their true love stories progress at the end of the episodes, like Ryuji’s encounter with Nagisa, and Onizuka’s with Shinomi.

5. Moral Values

The writer believes that there are many moral values that we can learn from doramas like Young GTO. It’s definitely the brash high school thug fights, but how we spend our youth by doing the things we love.

This dorama also teaches us to stand by our friends, no matter how gloom the situation might be. Lastly, we will also see how important the role of a teacher to their students. There are even some scenes that might make you shed some tears.

Those were the reasons why you need to watch Young GTO, a prequel to the live-action GTO. Stick around for other movies and doramas news on DuniaGames!
