Until now, Mihawk never loses a single fight among fellow swordsman. There are a few reasons why he is called as the strongest swordsman in One Piece. Have a look!

1. More Skillful Than Yonkou

Probably Shanks is stronger than Mihawk, but not in swordsmanship. As a Yonkou, Shanks shows outstanding skills in using a sword, like blocking Akainu’s magma fist during the Battle of Marineford. But it doesn’t show that he’s better than Mihawk in swordsmanship.

Thre’s a chance that Mihwak already learned swordsmanship at a very young age, so his skill can be above all else. Either that Shanks, Rayleigh, or other swordsmen in the world, Mihawk’s swordsmanship is still higher than all of them. This is why Mihawk’s worthy called the strongest swordsman.

2. A Calm Fighter

A calm swordfighter is better than those who fight with anger. Mihawk probably the calmest swordfighter in One Piece. When fighting, he never provoked by his enemies.

3. The Owner of Saijo O Wazamono

Mihawk wields a sword named Saijo O Wazamono. This sword is at its highest level compared to other swords. There are only twelve swords with a similar type.

Mihawk has Kokuto Yoru, one of the strongest swords in the story. Shanks’ Gryphon surely strong enough, but it’s still not known if that sword is one of the strongest or not. Mihawk’s Yoru sword even can slice a mountain into two easily.

4. Fights Alone

Mihawk becomes one of many pirates who sail without a crew. On the other hand, it gives him a disadvantage because doesn’t have a great force in fighting as well as support in dire situations. But it shows how confident he is as the ex-Shichibukai with his swordsmanship.

Even after his title as the Shichibukai disposed by the World Government and became one of the most wanted pirates by the Marines. Mihawk didn’t show any fear whatsoever even though he’s alone. Usually, a lone wolf fighter will be stronger because the lone wolf never relies on anything but on itself.

5. Black Sword

The Yoru sword is colored black. Based on the explanation at the Wano arc, a sword can turn into black due to keeping coated with Haki overtime. Not only strengthen the sword, but it also improves the sword’s quality.

If compared to Shanks, it is clear that Mihawk’s swordsmanship is still higher. As a Yonkou, Shanks still yet to make his sword black permanently.
