1. Medina Warda Aulia
After defeating Russian chess player Latina Stesko back in 2013 at the world chess championship in Turkey, Medina earned the title of the youngest Grandmaster. She managed to replace another female chess athlete who shared the same title as herself, Irene Kharisma Iskandar at that time.
This University of Indonesia student was initially interested in playing chess after seeing her father who loved chess. Due to her talent in playing chess, it only took Medina 3 months to finally win the Jakarta-level chess championship. After that, she continued to the national championship and again won first place.
2. Dewi Ardhiani Putri
Another Indonesian female chess athlete who has made the nation proud is Dewi Ardhiani Putri. She managed to beat Popchev Milko who holds the title Grandmaster of FIDE (World Chess Federation). For your information, Grandmaster is the highest title given by FIDE to chess athletes.
In fact, The Grandmaster title is a lifetime title that can be earned by a chess player other than World Champion.
3. Samantha Editsho
Who would have thought that this 12 years old girl is one of the toughest Indonesian female chess athletes to beat? Even though she’s still young, this Bandungnese girl has won the International FIDE World Championship 2018 U-10 that took place in Minsk, Belarus.
With extraordinary strategy and tactics, Samantha managed to beat other older chess players. In that tournament, Samantha was unstoppable until she fought Yana Zhapova in the final with a time control of 10 minutes 5 seconds. Samantha managed to beat her and became one of the youngest Indonesian female chess athletes who have made the nation proud.

4. Irene Kharisma Sukandar
Many of you may already be familiar with Grandmaster Irene. Irene started her career in 1999. At that time she had not yet won the title, but it was a motivation for her to continue to develop into becoming a skillful chess player. Her strategy continued to improve until she won the Australian Women's Masters in Australia.
The woman who defeated Dewa_Kipas also won other prestigious championships such as the Asian Continental Chess Championship in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, and the 27th Sea Games in 2013 in Myanmar, and many others. Irene also received an award from the Indonesian Record Museum as the first woman to win the Grandmaster title in 2008 and became Indonesia's best female chess athlete.
5. Chelsie Monica Ignesias Sihite
Chelsie Monica Ignesias Sihite, S.E. is a chess athlete who recently becomes an influencer and is currently being talked about on social media. She was present as a judge in the match between Dadang Subur (Dewa_Kipas) and GM Irene Sukandar, and she was known for her appearance.
Currently, Chelsie holds the rank 6915th in the active world rank, rank 27th in the active national rank, and rank 727th in Asia active. Chelsie Monica received the WIM (Woman International Master or MIW (Women's International Master) title without having to go through the MIW norm three times at the 2011 ASEAN + Age Group Chess Championship in Tarakan, North Borneo, back on June 13 to 19, 2011.
When competing in the World Chess Junior Championship 2021 Girls Under 20 in Greece, Chelsie appeared in eighth place with 8.5 / 13 points and recorded 2319 in performance rating. These results were obtained from eight wins, one draw, and four defeats to WGM Kashlinskaya. Alina, WFM Kulon Klaudia, WIM Arabidze Meri, and IM Bodnaruk Anastasia.
At the 2012 Chess Olympiad in Istanbul, Turkey, Chelsie got her first grandmaster norm. Seven years later, Chelsie managed to get her second WGM norm at the 2019 Japfa Women Grand Master tournament in Yogyakarta. Chelsie said that she played chess because she often saw her father playing chess. Then, Chelsie asked her father to teach her chess.
Chelsie began to improve her skill in chess until she finally ventured into competition when she was in elementary school. Chelsie also caught the attention of a chess coach in Balikpapan named Nugroho, who eventually coached her. Because she is very good at playing chess, she received an offer to join Utut Adianto Chess School.
