Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is currently preparing for a new story for Blade movie. The rumor of the remaking this movie resurfaces after Marvel reacquired the character’s rights, as well as other characters like Ghost Rider and The Punisher back in 2013.

The movie tells about a vampire hunter who received his power from Morbius. This movie firstly appeared as a trilogy with actor Wesley Snipes starred as the main role in Blade (1998), Blade 2 (2002), and Blade: Trinity (2004).

After 15 years, MCU will resurrect the vampire hunter into the widescreen. Actor Mahershala Ali has been chosen to play as the titular character, Eric Brooks who is a half-human and half-vampire.

While waiting for the movie, take a look at these few facts about Blade movies here.

5. One of Successful Marvel Superhero Movies

Before MCU gain its success with Infinity Saga movies, Marvel Studio once released various other superhero movies in the 90s like Blade (1998), Generation X (1996), Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D (1998), The Death of the Incredible Hulk (1990), and The Fantastic Four (1994), but only Blade that hooked people’s attention as well as superhero fans. Then the studio decided to release a sequel.

4. Blade II Became the Most Successful Sequel

The success of the first movie made Marvel Studio release Blade 2 in 2002. This movie continues Brooks’ adventure who is protecting humankind against vampires. Aside from offering an interesting storyline, Blade fans surely agree that this sequel became the best movie in the franchise. The success was not separated from the genius of Guillermo del Toro as the director. Eve on the total sales, Blade 2 managed to gain more revenues than the first one.

3. Stan Lee Almost Appear as a Cameo

As a Marvel movie, as well as a tradition in each movie, Stan Lee almost starred in the movie as a cameo. Lee often appears in Marvel movies, even he starred as a cameo for the first time in X-Men movie back in 2000. Sadly, Lee’s appearance was cut, even the cameo of pop singer Michael Jackson that planned to appear in the said movie also cut due to a small conflict.

2. Connection With Morbius Movie

Not long ago, Sony with their Marvel character suddenly released the Morbius trailer. On the trailer, it was shown how Morbius stayed in one reality with all MCU characters. It could be possible that Morbius will face Blade, the vampire hunter in the future. Back in SDCC 2019, Mahershala Ali had prepared to play as Blade in phase 4 or phase 5 in MCU in the next few years.

Actually, Morbius had been prepared to appear in Snipe’s Blade trilogy. Unfortunately, due to many difficulties and conflicts, the character got scrapped. If the rumor was right, superhero fans could rejoice to see the thrilling fight between the two on-screen, a vampire versus vampire hunter would be interesting to watch.

1. Blade Portrayed by Mahershala Ali

In the MCU, Blade will be portrayed by actor Mahershala Ali replacing Snipes. An interesting fact with the deal with Kevin Feige as the CEO of Marvel Studios, Feige stated that Ali had planned to meet Feige. Without hesitation, when Ali talking about Blade, Feige immediately said “Yes”. A simple thing to show Marvel’s seriousness to remake Blade as well as Ali's commitment towards the remake project.

Blade was not the first superhero movie he starred in. Back in 2018, Ali involved in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and once played as Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes in Marvel’s Luke Cage Netflix series on the first season.

Even though the news regarding Blade movie had been announced by MCU, but the studio is yet to reveal the release date. It’s rumored that Blade will jump to theaters in 2022 or 2023. Follow DuniaGames.co.id for more information regarding movies.
