Do you still remember the mountain bandit from One Piece’s earlier episodes? Yes, he is Higuma, the bad guy that kidnaps little Luffy. These are the facts about Higuma from One Piece that you should know!

1. One of the Few Character that Dies

Oda rarely kills any One Piece characters, unless it’s the vital characters such as Ace or Shirohige or when he is making a flashback episode. But in the second episode of the anime, we see characters died for the first time.

First was Higuma’s underling that get killed by Lucky Roux after pointing his gun to Shanks. Then Higuma died after being eaten by a sea monster.

2. First Bounty Reveal

Higuma is the first One Piece character with a known bounty. He arrogantly flaunts his bounty to a Yonkou, Shanks. Higuma’s bounty is 8 million Belly, a small amount for a leader of the bandits.

While at that time, Shanks’ bounty is well above 1 billion Belly. Fyi, Shanks can kill all of the mountain bandits within seconds with Haoshoku Haki.

3. The Number of His Victim

According to Vivre Card Databook volume 1, Higuma killed 56 people before he gets his 8 million Belly bounty. He looks down upon pirates and thinks that mountain bandits places at the top of the food chain. Higuma always carries his bounty poster around to flaunt his called greatness.

4. Non-Pirate

Most antagonist in One Piece is a pirate, the Marines, or the World Government. While Higuma is the only antagonist, that’s a mountain bandit.

5. Original Design

In Higuma’s original design, Oda wants to make arm him with a rifle and not a sword. The one that got a rifle is not Higuma but his underling that got shot by Lucky Roux.

Higuma may not be a crucial character in One Piece, but it’s interesting to talk about an antagonist that appears in the earlier episode. Will Luffy face mountain bandits in the future?

1. The whole sequence with Luffy as a kid in Foosha Village is technically a a flashback, so Higuma was ****ed in a flashback, same as many MANY other characters. 2. Shanks was not a yonko back then, he became a yonko AFTER he left the East Blue. And Conqueror's Haki does not ****, it knocks out. 3. You mentioned the number 56, and that's important, but you fail to notice why: 56 is Japanese is read Go Mu, as in Gomu Gomu no Mi. Arrived here by accident, looking for confirmation on a piece of information, and for some reason google sent me to this wasteland. Normally I would've just left, but there were too many wrong things
