There are several facts about Jinbei in One Piece Vivre Card Databook volume 4 that will make you curious!

1. A Very Helpful Crew

Oda explained one fact about Jinbei that you might not know yet. If the Straw Hats were starving while sailing, would Jinbei be willing to catch fish for all his friends? The answer is of course.yes, Jinbei is a crew member who really cares about his friends.

Because he is a fish-man, fishing is a very easy task to do. Then, does Jinbei also eat fish? Yes, Jinbei is a whale shark fish-man who is a carnivore. So, he can eat the small fish in the ocean.

2. Helmsman

Some of you might not know what is Jinbei’s role in the Straw Hat Pirates. In Vivre Card Databook volume 4, Oda explained that Jinbei is a helmsman of the crew. So far there has not been a truly reliable helmsman in the Straw Hats. Nami is a navigator, not a helmsman. So does Franky the mechanic.

When being chased by Big Mom, Jinbei managed to steered Sunny Go away from her by utilizing the small gap in the waves.

3. Favorite Food

Jinbei’s favorite food is mozu vinegar. This is a vinegared noodle type of food. Besides that, Jinbei also likes fruits. This was seen when Boa Hancock bings so many foods for Luffy on Ruskaina Island. The first food that taken by Jinbei was fruits.

4. Bounty Increase

When he was still under Fisher Tiger, Jinbei had a bounty of 76,000,000 Belly. As time goes by, Jinbei’s bounty increased to 250,000,000 Belly. The increase was gained before he joined the Shichibukai. His current bounty is 438,000,000 Belly. This increase was gained after the Battle of Marine Ford.

5. Jinbei Original Concept

Oda also explained that originally Jinbei was planned to become an antagonist character. He acted as a person who controls Arlong's crime. But the story was changed to Jinbei who regretted having let Arlong do evil things at East Blue.

Not only that, Jinbei was originally planned to be Ace’s eternal enemy, but it was never happen. Apparently Oda likes to change the storyline if possible.
