Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings premiered in Indonesian cinemas starting September 22, 2021. This is the first Asian superhero film to get a solo film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This superhero film itself focuses on the character of Shang Chi, the newest superhero of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). This film introduces the story of Shang-Chi that has never been known before.

Simu Liu plays the main character, Shang-Chi. He co-starred with Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh, and Tony Leung in scenes involving exciting action with an emotional touch and MCU-style humor. Interestingly, this film also presents a number of familiar characters, namely Abomination. This terrible monster was even seen fighting Wong, a wizard friend of Doctor Strange. For new Marvel fans, it's definitely confusing to see these characters appear in Shang Chi.

To avoid being called a non-Marvel fan, you should watch the following films before you finally see Shang Chi: And The Legend of The Ten Rings in theaters.

1. Iron Man 

Who would have thought that the story of Shang-Chi could not be separated from Iron Man, which was aired in 2008. The connection of both films are quite big, especially related to the Ten Rings criminal organization which was part of the early history of Shang-Chi.

In Iron Man, Tony Stark was kidnapped by the Ten Rings which later produces a prototype of the iconic suit. As for Shang-Chi, the Ten Rings are a part of his life that he wants to avoid. By watching Iron Man again, the audience will understand the existence of the Ten Rings in the Marvel universe, which indirectly creates the two strongest superheroes in the universe.

2. The Incredible Hulk 

Before Hulk joined the Avengers, this green monster also had fought Abomination in The Incredible Hulk. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is arguably the second debut for Abomination in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after being defeated by the Hulk.

Of course, Marvel fans were surprised when Abomination appeared in the trailer of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. 3. Iron Man 3

The story of the Ten Rings can be found in Iron Man 3. But in the film, this group appears as part of a propaganda led by a figure known as the Mandarin (Ben Kingsley). In fact, the Mandarin in Iron Man 3 is not the real Mandarin. The original figure of the Mandarin is Xu Wenwu who is the father of Shang-Chi.

The story of Ten Rings and "The Mandarin" in Iron Man 3 will also be discussed in Shang-Chi, so watching the 2013 film will help the audience in understanding the problems faced by Shang-Chi. Moreover, Ben Kingsley also appears in Shang-Chi.

4. Doctor Strange

Doctor Strange will have an important role in MCU Phase 4, so Marvel Studio has also prepared a new solo film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which will premiere in 2022. Interestingly, a close friend of Doctor Strange named Wong also appeared in Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings. In this film, Wong will face Abomination in a fighting tournament. 5. Infinity Saga
