Movie industry is very diverse in that there are a lot of movies with varying qualities and reputations, from low-quality movies to top-notch quality or from low-budget movies to high-budget movies.
Although when it comes to the qualities, a lot of movies are top-notch with great production value yet fall into obscurity against the more mainstream movies, regardless of their budget or whatnot. Therefore, it is a must for you to check out these five underrated movies with great quality and give them the recognition they deserve:
1. Upgrade
Upgrade is an action movie about revenge that is considered pretty unique for implementing numerous elements inspired by great filmmakers like Paul Verhoeven, James Cameron and David Cronenberg.
Starring Marshall-Green with his Cyberpunk vibe, Upgrade mixes it with several exciting action scenes and thriller elements to create a memorable experience for the audiences.
2. Welcome to the Punch
Fans of crime thriller movies should definitely watch Welcome to the Club which stars James McAvoy as Mark Strong, a bank robber with a good moral compass.
Unlike the other movies of its genre, Welcome to the Punch has some decent action scenes and engaging tory that will keep you glued to the movie.
3. Riders of Justice
Perhaps one of the biggest surprises in 2021 is Riders of Justice, a fantasy movie with a revenge theme that can pretty much deceive people on the surface with its simple premise while hiding much more under the table.
Riders of Justice’s screenwriter and director, Anders Thomas Jensen explores through many elements which he implements to the movie, including the constantly changed tense and unpredictable story that engages the audiences every now and then.
4. Free Fire
Set in 1978, Free Fire is a very underrated black comedy movie that deserves a spotlight due to its depiction of gang wars, the brutality that follows and the comedy factors.
One unique feature of this 2016 movie is its impressive soundtracks that are very well-made and fit with every scene in the movie, especially whenever things go wrong on the screen.
5. Red
Unlike your typical espionage movies, Red is a blood-pumping action espionage movie full of brutality and intense fights thanks to the list of veteran actors playing for the movie like Bruce Willis, Mary-Louise Parker and Helen Mirren.
Although the first Red movie received positive receptions from fans and critics, the series quickly fell into obscurity after the second Red movie came out in 2012 until finally Netflix recently announced a new Red movie called Red Notice.
