At the initial release, these games were considered failures, but they made a comeback.

The comeback moment is a moment of getting back up after being down. You don’t often see this when playing games, but also to anyone, even in the game industry. Currently there are many games that were hyped up in the beginning but had to fail miserably in a short span of time. There are many factors that cause this, ranging from bugs or the content is not as expected.
But failure is not the end of everything. Some console games that were considered failed actually managed to come back after the developer fixed the game. So the game that was previously considered a failed game, is now more popular and attracts a lot of gamers to play them. So, what are the failed games that make a comeback? Let's look at the following list.
1. No Man's Sky
Talking about a game that managed to come back is incomplete without talking about No Man's Sky. The game by Hello Games was called the "most chaotic" game when it was released. The space exploration gameplay is not in accordance with what its creator, Sean Murray said.
The gameplay promised in the promotion didn't appear in the game. Even the planet that was shown in the trailer has flora and fauna, it turns out to be empty. In addition, there is not enough content. As a result No Man's Sky was bombarded with bad reviews. No wonder Sean Murray is also the target of criticization.
But No Man's Sky managed to come back. In recent years the game has continued to get new updates containing content that was lost at release. This game even managed to get a Mostly Positive review on Steam. Sean Murray said that it took five years to change the review status from Mostly Negative to Mostly Positive.
The latest No Man's Sky update is Frontiers and this update is already available.
2. Star Wars Battlefront II
Next is Star Wars Battlefront II made by DICE and EA. In this game the players get to enjoy amazing moments like in the film. When Star Wars Battlefront II was first released, the game was immediately criticized for the 'crazy' microtransaction system. EA seems to be really trying to squeeze gamers' wallets with this system.
Imagine, to get iconic characters like Darth Vader, players were given two options. The first option is grinding while the second option is with loot boxes using real money. It's natural that gamers are angry because EA implements such a system. This issue has even received the spotlight of the United States government because it is considered to be promoting gambling.
In the end, DICE and EA decided to turn off the microtransaction feature in Star Wars Battlefront II. After the update, microtransactions are limited to cosmetic purchases and have no impact on gameplay. DICE has also released many new updates that make Star Wars Battlefront II even better.
3. Final Fantasy XIV
Final Fantasy XIV is one of the oldest MMORPG games in the world. This game has been around since 2010 with the name Final Fantasy XIV Online. Unfortunately this game didn't work and was considered to be just using the Final Fantasy name.
Like a Phoenix rising from its ashes, the success story of Final Fantasy XIV began in 2013. To fix Final Fantasy XIV Online, Square Enix appointed Naoki Yoshida or Yoshi P. Through his "magic" power, Yoshi P re-released it as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. This game has undergone many changes in terms of content and gameplay.
In an interview with Time, Yoshi P admits that the process of remaking Final Fantasy XIV is not easy. He and his team had to fix a lot of things in a short amount of time. Not only that, Yoshi P also received input from fans and made it a feature in the game. As a result, Final Fantasy XIV made a comeback.
Final Fantasy XIV will also have its newest expansion Endwalker in October 2021.

4. Diablo 3
Diablo is a legendary game franchise that is very well known by gamers around the world. When Blizzard released Diablo 3 in 2012, they tried something different: this game requires players to always be online. But the feedback by the new feature implemented is disappointing
The internet connection which was unstable at that time and the lacking server creates a mess at the release of Diablo 3. Gamers who are already enthusiastic about playing the game cannot log in because of the technical problem. Even this Diablo 3 technical issue was immortalized into a meme called "Error 37". This problem became even bigger when Blizzard refused gamers who wanted a refund.
Even so, little by little Blizzard began to improve with various updates. The technical problem was finally successfully handled by Blizzard. In addition, Blizzard also apologized by removing the controversial action house feature and releasing the new Reaper of Souls expansion in 2014.
5. Sea of Thieves
The comeback moment was also experienced by the exclusive game belonging to the IT giant Microsoft. When it was first released in 2018, Sea of Thieves was immediately labeled as a failed game.
Why? Because Sea of Thieves didn't have enough content when it was released. The main content of Sea of Thieves, which is treasure hunting, even becomes boring because it is repetitive. Not to mention the Sea of Thieves world was empty. There was no variety in the enemies. The lack of content was made even worse by the price which is quite expensive.
Like other online games, the developer finally patched these problems through updates. Currently Sea of Thieves has become a different game from when it was first released. Not to mention that this game often holds collaborative events, for example in season three, which features Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean.
