As the main character, Son Goku feels like Earth's strongest hero, especially because he routinely defeats enemies that his allies can't beat, including Vegeta, but that doesn't mean Goku can't die either. 1. Died Alongside Raditz

At the beginning of the Saiyan Saga, Raditz, Son Goku's older brother, attacked Earth. He kidnapped Son Gohan, Son Goku's son, and those who responded to Raditz's challenge were Son Goku and Piccolo.

Even though Son Goku and Piccolo have fought with all their might, they are overwhelmed against Raditz. Finally, the ultimate plan was carried out. Son Goku caught Raditz from behind, allowing Piccolo to launch the Makankōsappō. This attack killed Raditz along with Son Goku. This is Goku's first death in the story before he will often be resurrected again.

2. Died of a Heart Attack

One of the key points in Trunks' future is that Son Goku has died. Son Goku died of a heart attack caused by a virus, and the cure is discovered in Trunks' future. This makes Son Goku never fight Androids in the Trunks’ future.

Unlike death from being killed, which can be revived by using Dragon Ball, natural death due to old age or disease cannot be brought back to life by Dragon Ball. Therefore, Son Goku in Trunks’ future, cannot come back to life. Goku in the Cell Saga timeline almost had the same fate.

Future Trunks brought medicine and gave it to Son Goku to prevent death from the heart attack virus. Even so, Son Goku had a heart attack against Android 19 and Android 20 because he had not taken the drug from Trunks.

3. Died Alongside Cell

Even though Goku in the prime timeline didn't die of a heart attack before the Android attacked, he did end up dead anyway. Even after reaching his perfect form, Cell could not fight Super Saiyan 2 Son Gohan. Even Son Gohan's attack made Cell vomit up Android 18. Frustrated, Cell finally tried to blow himself up.

Running out of time, Son Goku finally moved instantly by bringing Cell to Planet Kaioo. This explosion killed Son Goku and Kaioo, but Cell can still regenerate and become Perfect Cell. Later, Son Goku came back to life because of the life given by Old Kai.

4. Killed by Zamasu

Zamasu finds out about Son Goku's strength and the existence of Super Dragon Ball. Envious of Goku, he collected all the Super Dragon Ball. He then requested that his body be exchanged with Son Goku. With this, this is how he started to become Black. When Zamasu's body has been swapped with Son Goku, this makes Son Goku's family confused.

Amid this chaos, Black comes and kills Chi Chi, Son Goten, and Son Goku (who is in Zamasu's body). This is one of the branched futures in the Black Saga. Son Goku is gone forever because Future Zeno erases this timeline.

5. Once Technically Killed by Hit

Goku once fought Hit in Universe 6. This is a battle between the two strongest fighters from each universe. Not satisfied with the Universe 6 vs Universe 7 duel, Son Goku still wanted to challenge Hit to fight as hard as he can, to the point Goku desperately hired Hit to kill himself. Goku then realized that Hit, who was fighting as a killer, really didn't hold back.

Son Goku was killed by Hit's Shunken Ensatsu instead. But Son Goku launched a ki blast that will hit him to make his heart beat again. Even so, Goku was happy and very satisfied because he could fight again with Hit which could make him very excited. Only Goku dared to do something this crazy!
