1. Smoke Every Dangerous Spot

Just like most maps in general, you need to smoke every dangerous spot. If you’re playing as the Attacker, you have to smoke Heaven, Back Site, and A/B Link to blind rotating opponents.

If you’re playing as a Defender, you have to cover spots that are definitely going to be passed by the opposing team, such as A/B Main. Aside from that, you also have to smoke the Mid Area to make it harder for them to reach this spot.

2. Viper & Astra Excel on Pearl!

Some Agents are more dominant on certain maps. On Pearl, Viper and Astra tend to be more powerful. These Controllers are able to cover crucial spots with ease, especially Viper with her Toxic Screen.

For those of you who are obsessed with Lineups, Viper can pull off lineups exceptionally well on Pearl due to the open Plant area — you’ll be able to lineup Snake Bite and Poison Orb with no issue.

Since Pearl comprises vast areas, Astra offers a specific advantage, which is to use her Abilities from anywhere. Astra’s Nebula can also be used to cover dangerous spots.

Her Gravity Well and Nova Pulse can also be used to clear angles given that Pearl has so many angles and corners that you have to secure.

In my opinion, an Astra-Viper duo may once again be popular on Pearl.

3. Learn the Callouts on Pearl

Knowing the right callouts to use is crucial on this map. Each map has certain spots that the opposing team will frequently be at, so you need to know the callouts to communicate better with your teammates.

Therefore, learning about the callouts on Pearl is very important to communicate more effectively.

4. Tips (Attacker)

Attacking A Site

Attacking Site A tends to be easier as the Attackers can enter A Site via Main or Mid. The first thing you’ll need to do before entering A Site is to cover Flower and Secret with smoke. 

By doing so, you’ll cover most of the spots that the Defenders can peek from.

Once you’ve covered both spots with Smoke, you can start entering the Site but don’t forget to check the corners on your right or A Link — if one of your teammates is entering from Mid, you can ditch A Link. 

The best way to enter the Site is by flashing your right corner.

If you have Sage on your team, you can use her Walls to cover Secret or A Link.

Attacking B Site

Attacking B Site may be a bit harder for the Attackers as this Site benefits the Defender. If you want to go through B Main, you have to be wary of Operator and Marshall, and any enemy on the corners and Screen.

To enter B Site you’ll need to use utilities to secure corners — especially the utility of the Initiator. A Controller also plays an important role to help you enter B Site — you have to cover Tunnel, Heaven, B Link, and Hall if possible.

Once you’ve smoked all crucial spots, and secured B Main and Ramp, you can throw some grenades to clear out Screen or Hall.

Sage’s Wall is also very useful for B Site, so you’ll be able to plant the Spike safely.

Once you’ve done planting, you’ll need to spread out to make it difficult for the Defenders to retake.

5. Tips (Defender)

It is just as difficult to play as a Defender on Pearl as you need to protect the Mid area from the Attackers.

The best way is to divide the team by sending two players to Mid. It’s highly advised to exclusively protect A/B Link so you won’t get isolated when peeking.

If you want to let go of the Mid area, be sure to use a Sentinel’s utility like Killjoy, Cypher, or Chamber to avoid any of the enemies from infiltrating.
