To put things into perspective, here are some examples of annoying DOTA 2 player that you’ll frequently meet during the game.
Dota 2 | 26 May
As you play DOTA 2, you’re bound to meet some annoying DOTA 2 player that can ruin the fun and overall experience. This is a common occurrence during the pub match as the players are picked up randomly by the system, which means you can get a solid team on one match and the total opposite of it the other times.
One of the deciding factors for the matchmaking process is the player’s behavior score, kind of like a report card in DOTA 2 that lets you meet a player with a similar score. You'll be more likely to meet a polite person if you play fairly and politely, and vice versa.
While you can’t always get to know the players a lot, there are some behaviors you can see in a player based on their gameplay and manners. To put things into perspective, here are some examples of annoying DOTA 2 player that you’ll frequently meet during the game.
1. Players Who Always Gamble
When you pick the DOTA 2 heroes, every team and player gets some time to think and choose the best options. But sometimes, there’s that one player who deliberately chooses a hero randomly especially when they’re the last player to pick one, which can damage the entire team in the long run.
It doesn’t only happen when picking the hero. Since this type of DOTA 2 player picks the hero randomly, they also play the hero randomly and just push the buttons and skills however they like. Because this can really cause headaches, make sure to pick the heroes wisely during the draft pick, unless you’re a god-tier player who doesn’t really care what others will pick for the team.
2. Ping Spammer
In DOTA 2, a ping is an important gameplay element for conveying information. Unfortunately, many players who seemingly don’t know how to play the game tend to abuse this ping feature by spamming it every time someone on the team’s about to perform rune. This will undoubtedly damage the game and disturb other players.
3. Not Joining Team Fights
Some annoying DOTA 2 players even consider every hero as a Natural Prophet, someone who doesn’t need to take part in a team fight. Players like these only know and perform two things regardless of their designated roles: Farming and split push.
What makes players like this such a headache is that avoiding team fights means they’re prone to solo push with their hero and no one else. Instead of trying to destroy the enemy’s towers like they intended, they instead disturb their own team to the point where their own towers get destroyed in the process.
4. Legion Commander Fanatic
Legion Commander is among the most popular picks in a hub match, which emphasizes the need to understand the team’s strategies before picking that role. If the team has designated three core heroes and out of nowhere a player picks Legion Commander, this signifies selfishness as that particular player won’t even care about other heroes in the team.
Furthermore, this type of fanatic tends to ‘hide’ in the jungle while waiting to buy some items. This is a lose-lose strategy as the world outside the jungle inevitably changes and by the time they got the necessary items and out of the jungle, the team’s already on the brink of defeat.

5. Toxic Players
It feels incomplete to have an online game without having toxic players in it, which unfortunately DOTA 2 has. Ever since the era of DOTA 1 you can easily find some toxic players in the matchmaking pub with foul mouths and toxic behaviors. Fortunately, DOTA 2 has become pretty strict with this kind of player thanks to the aforementioned behavior score.
As the behavior score gets lower, it means the player is beyond salvation and the game is going to punish them by either suspending the account indefinitely or deleting the account altogether.
6. Perfectionists
All things considered, of all the other annoying DOTA 2 player out there, a perfectionist seems a lot better than the others, especially toxic people. However, perfectionists tend to display a lack of manner by being arrogant and insisting that they’re right all the time. In most scenarios, they just blame others when faced with dire situations.
There’s almost nothing rational that can explain perfectionists behaviors which can potentially become toxic. They tend to think that the team’s nothing without their role and get salty when things don’t go their own way instead of the team’s collective ways.
Truthfully, there’s no end to discussing every type of annoying DOTA 2 player out there, but one thing for sure is that they’re such a pain in the neck in many aspects and should be treated carefully. Which begs a question, what kind of player do you find extremely painful to meet in the game?
