Chopper is a non-human member of the Straw Hats, aside from Brook, who turned into a skeleton. However, Chopper ate the Hito Hito no Mi Devil Fruit, which turned him into a human hybrid, granting him the ability to speak like a human. On this occasion, I would like to discuss the Hito Hito no Mi Devil Fruit. Without further ado, let’s get into it!

1. It Got Him Exiled from the Herd

Although it allows Chopper to be able to speak to humans and animals, on the other hand, he got alienated from his herd after eating Hito Hito no Mi. Surely this is because he’s no longer a mere reindeer. But that’s not all, eating the Hito Hito no Mi Devil Fruit also made Chopper seen as a monster by humans.

2. The Appearance of Hito Hito no Mi

In One Piece Magazine vol. 6, Oda confirmed the appearance of the Hito Hito no Mi Devil Fruit. The fruit bears a resemblance to a mushroom with the iconic Devil Fruit pattern. You can see how it looks in the picture above.

3. Its Effects on Seawater

Normally, Devil Fruit users are susceptible to seawater. Even if they knew how to swim, they’ll lose the ability once they’ve consumed the fruit. But it’s not the case for Chopper, who’s not a human. Chopper goes into his hybrid form after falling into seawater.

4. If Eaten by a Human

Hito Hito no Mi is a Devil Fruit that grants an animal the ability to speak in human language. So, what if it’s eaten by a human? In One Piece SBS volume 20, a fan asked, “What would happen if a human ate the Hito Hito no Mi?”

Oda then replied that if someone ate the fruit, they’d be wiser or found their true spirit. In other words, according to Oda, the human who ate it would become more humane.

5. Rumble Ball

Chopper increases the power from the Hito Hito no Mi by using the Rumble Ball. It allows him to freely transform into any of his other forms. Not just Chopper, Caesar Clown has also developed his Devil Fruit powers using science.

6. Chopper’s Various Forms

Normally, a user of the Zoan Devil Fruit only has 3 forms: beast, hybrid, and human. However, Chopper has 9 different forms. This makes him a special Zoan user. Chopper developed this ability after training for 2 years during the Time Skip.

7. Monster Point

Monster Point is Chopper’s strongest form that requires the Rumble Ball. This form shares some resemblance with the Mink Tribe’s Sulong. When he first obtained this ability, Chopper was barely able to control it, similar to Sulong, which can be overwhelming for the Mink Tribe.
