One of the most common facts about Kaido is he’s one fo the strongest man in One Piece. What makes him more interesting is that he’s unable to kill himself. Also, there are a few facts about this Yonkou that you still don’t know about. Find out here!

1. His Initial Design Was Different

This thing often occurred in the manga when the main villain seen for the first time, they appeared as a silhouette. When the first silhouette was shown that described the Yonkou, a few of us probably went goosebump because imagining how strong they will be. Since the Enies Lobby arc, Kaido had appeared as a silhouette a few times.

If you take a closer look, Kaido’s silhouette back then was different than his current appearance. According to the writer, the silhouette was close to Ashura Doji. This makes one of the One Piece character design that Oda changed was Kaido. Not only Kaido, but Big Mom’s silhouette was also seen differently than her current appearance.

2. Kaido’s Devil Fruit Speculation

If we're talking about Kaido’s devil fruit, his devil fruit is still yet explained until now. There are a few Zoan-type fruits, starting from the normal, Ancient, and Mythical. Normal Zoan is often seen during the previous story arc. Ancient is based on animals that already here since the dawn of time, while Mythical is based on animals that only appear in a fairy tale.

During the Thriller Bark, Ryuma once stated that at a certain place, a dragon appears at Wano country. If this right, then a dragon is not a mythological beast, but instead an ancient one. That means Kaido’s devil fruit is not a Mythical Zoan, but instead an Ancient Zoan. This is only a speculation, so don’t take this seriously.

3. Heavy Drinker

A few of you might not realize that Kaido is often seen drunk. This Yonkou is always seen carrying a sake bottle everywhere he goes. When there’s an important report from his underlings, Kaido is still drinking. What makes it looks more interesting is the time when he’s fighting Luffy.

At that fight, Kaido is heavily drunk. Luffy’s strongest attack, only sober him up, and Luffy’s blow doesn’t hurt him. Luffy made Kaido’s angry when he was heavily drunk, defeated by one technique, Raimei Hakkei. After that fight, Kaido continued drinking.

4. Power is Everything!

In One Piece, every captain has their reason for sailing. There are a few who want to be a Pirate King, there is some want freedom, just to name a few. If Luffy is a person who wants to find “nakama” and the freedom on sailing, then it’s different than Kaido who is looking only for strength, in other words, he wants a strong crew!

No matter if the person who wants to end his life, if Kaido takes an interest in him, he will put the man into his crew. If he refuses, he will be incarcerated. This happened to Kid, Apoo, and Hawkins Alliance. Kaido is a man who honors power so much, that’s why he didn’t immediately kill Luffy and Kid but instead throw them into the slammer.

5. One Family Member

Every Yonkou represents different things. Big Mom represents family, Shanks represents freedom and romance, Teach represents the dark side of freedom, and Kaido represents power. We can see that every Yonkou has a different goal. There is also a distinct difference between Big Mom and Kaido.

Big Mom has plenty of family members. Currently, she has 85 children, not counting a few of her husbands whose whereabouts are unknown. While Kaido has one daughter, Yamato. It’s unknown who’s Kaido’s wife is. Is it Big Mom?

6. Connection With Gecko Moria

It’s interesting if we’re able to see a few events in the past, like what happened between Gecko Moria and Kaido. During the Thriller Bark arc, Moria kept on saying that he wanted a strong zombie army. In the past, Moria once fought Kaido.

Around 22 years ago, Kaido killed all Moria’s crew. This is why the ex-Shichibukai has the goal to form the strongest army to avenge his loss to Kaido. Kaido is the man who made Moria lose his conscience. One of his goals on allying himself with Teach probably to defeat Kaido. 

7. Never Smile Once

One thing that you don’t notice is Kaido never once seen smiling. There are a few kinds of smiles: kind smile, weird smile, forced smile, and intimidation smile. But Kaido never shows any of them. If you’re seeing a smiling Kaido, probably it’s just a fanart.

This summons a suspicion among fans. Is it possible that Kaido also the victim of the smile devil fruit so he cannot smile? Nobody knows it until Oda explains it to us.
