7 Interesting Facts about Terminator Film Series

In this November, Terminator film series is return to entertain the movie fans with Terminator: Dark Fate. This film marks the return of movie producer, James Cameron, who previously left the film series that he had created after the second film Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Besides Cameron, in this film, the fans can also watch Arnold Schwarzenegger portrayed the killing machine robot, Terminator, again and also the actress Linda Hamilton who portrayed Sarah Connor in the first Terminator film.
There are six films in total and 35 years after the first film to Terminator: Dark Fate film that is currently aired in movie theater, of course there are many interesting facts behind this newest film or even the history behind Terminator film series itself. The following are the facts about the film series:
1. Came From James Cameron’s Dream when He was Sick
Ideas can come from everywhere, at least that’s what happened to James Cameron. Cameron got an idea about the Terminator character in an unexpected circumstance. When he was visiting Rome, Cameron fell ill and had a high fever. When he was resting, Cameron dreamt about “a deadly robot who walked out of fire”. From there, he got an idea to create Terminator film.
2. Sold for a cheap price
Although he was successful completing the idea of Terminator story that came from his dream. Cameron who at that time was not a famous producer and always failed to convince the film producers to produce his films. Desperate, Cameron finally sold his film rights to producer, Gale Anne Hurd for only $ 1 or equivalent to Rp14,000 today, as long as Hurd really tried hard to make Cameron's film idea come true. The results were amazingly good, not only did the Terminator film come true but Cameron also eventually married Hurd.
3. Robot Dog Sidekick
To create the first Terminator film Cameron only get funds of $ 6.4 million, a very small amount to produce Hollywood film. Because he is not the most famous director. Cameron several times received intervention and suggestion from the film studio’s side. One of the suggestions given by the film studio is to add a robot dog as the sidekick for the main character Kyle Reese. Unfortunately (or fortunately) this proposal was never considered by Cameron
4. Doubted by the Film’s Actor
As mentioned previously, before making the first Terminator film, James Cameron is not a well-known film director, so it is not weird if the casts of the Terminator film to not expect much from this film. In an interview before starting the first Terminator shooting, Schwarzenegger expressed his doubts about this film. In an interview Schwarzenegger described this film as "a bad film". The actress Linda Hamilton also described the film as "a small film" when she was asked by her friend ahead of the launch of the first Terminator film.
5. The Iconic Sentence that Almost Missing
Throughout the Terminator series which is almost 35 years old, Schwarzenegger only says about 85 words. Even so, this former bodybuilder had successfully drawn the attention of the audience with his iconic sentence "I'll be back". But it seems that many don't know that this iconic sentence almost changed to "I will be back" because Schwarzenegger has a thick German accent and it's hard to say "I'll be back".
6. The Twin Effect
In the Terminator 2 film, the audience was shocked when they saw two Sarah Connor, played by Linda Hamilton, on the cinema screen. One is the original Sarah Connor while the other is a T-1000 robot that can change shape. It turned out that to make this scene, the film director, Cameron does not depend on computer effects but instead uses Linda Hamilton’s own twin sister, Leslie. The results is certainly looked very convincing.
7. Couldn’t Stop Smiling
It seems that not only the fans who are happy to see the original actress who played Sarah Connor in the Terminator: Dark Fate film but also the actress herself, Linda Hamilton. In an interview, Hamilton explained that she could not stop smiling when she had take various of scenes with various types of firearms that became the trademark of her character. This makes the director must stop the shooting several times.
