Using the technique Kuchiyose no Jutsu (Summoning Technique), a ninja in the world of Naruto is able to summon various kinds of ninja animals to help them in fights. Obviously, Kuchiyose animals are not ordinary animals; most of them have tremendous fighting skills or even talk like humans.

They can be utilized as extra firepower in fights, as well as just a companion to tag along with. So it’s not surprising, a Kage who regarded as the strongest ninja of his time also has a close relationship with the Kuchiyose! 1. Toads

These ninja toads are legendary summon partners. Their battle prowess can make even a Bijuu feels overwhelmed, not just from their sizes that can easily surpass a skyscraper, but they’re also supported by their ninja techniques that they mastered.

The inhabitants of Mount Myoboku, Myoboku toads, can teach their ninja partners the techniques of Sennin or Sage Mode, as well as how to use the senjutsu chakra.

2. Slugs

• User: Tsunade, the Fifth Hokage

Having an equal reputation with the toads, the slug, Katsuyu, who lives in the Shikkotsu Forest, known as one of the strongest Kuchiyose animals. Having the ability to spit acid, a healing ability, can split itself, it is said that Katsuyu that being called by someone is just a small part of the original Katsuyu’s body.

3. Monkeys

• User: Hiruzen Sarutobi, the Third Hokage

4. Giant Clams

Gengetsu’s mainstay Kuchiyose animal. With these clams, the user is able to perform a combination genjutsu called Magen: Kijo no Rokaku, where the steam created by the clam will hide their real self, while the enemies’ are deceived by the illusions.

5. Giant Tapirs

• User: Danzo Shimura, the Sixth Hokage candidate

Having served as the 'Interim Hokage' for a while, Danzo had a rather unique Kuchiyose animal, which has tapir-like features named Baku. The strange creature wrapped in bandages can suck up all kinds of things on his sight. 

6. Ninja Dogs

• User: Kakashi Hatake, the Sixth Hokage

The seven ninja dogs who were always loyally accompanied Kakashi: Pakkun, Bull, Urushi, Shiba, Bisuke, Akino, Uhei, and Guruko. They can always be relied upon in tracking someone.

7. Salamanders

• User: Hanzo, the Amegakure Kage

Although not carrying the title of Kage, along with two other ninja villages, the leader of Amegakure is officially considered as a Kage. And one of the most renowned 'Kage' of Amegakure is Hanzo.

Hanzo’s reputation as the master of the salamander/giant poisonous lizard named Ibuse was legendary, much to a point he earned the nickname 'Hanzo of the Salamander'.
