1. Corazon’s Death

Corazon (real name Donquixote Rosinante) is an older brother of Donquixote Doflamingo. Corazon who has an intention to stop Doflamingo’s evil plans decides to become a spy for Marines. He’s also a man who take care of and raise Law since he was 10 years old.
Due to Law’s rare disease called Amber Lead Syndrome, Corazon decides to run from Donquixote Family to find a hospital that can cure him.

Turns out that Ope Ope no Mi is the only cure for Law’s disease. Unfortunately, Corazon got shot to death by Doflamingo who knew his disguise. From that moment, Law decides to avenge Corazon’s death on Doflamingo and making a treaty with Straw Hat Pirates.

2. Pedro’s Death?

Pedro is an ex-member of Nox Pirates who also a member of the Mink tribe. Pedro who indebted to Luffy and friends because they had saved his hometown, Zou decided to accompany them to steal Poneglyph from Big Mom.

On their journey, Pedro must face one of Big Mom’s son, Perospero. To open a path for Luffy and friends, Pedro sacrifices himself. He explodes himself using a stick of dynamite to defeat Perospero. It is yet to be confirmed if Pedro is still alive or not, one thing for sure that this tragedy leaves a deep sorrow on Carrot.

3. Sabo and Luffy’s Meeting

After an attack on the Goa Kingdom in the past, Luffy and Ace thought that Sabo is already dead.
Turns out that Sabo was saved by Dragon and they reunite in Corrida Coliseum. In this meeting, Luffy is seen hysterically crying because he’s very happy knowing that Sabo who he had thought already dead turns out still alive.

Sabo is very happy when knowing Luffy is still alive, because he’s the only brother he has left since Ace’s gone. This scene makes the audience crying with happiness.

4. Sanji and Luffy’s Duel

When Sanji abducted by Germa 66, he wanted to be married by force with Pudding, one of Big Mom’s daughter. Sanji doesn’t have another choice because Germa 66 threatens to kill Zeff, the man who raised him if he doesn’t do what they want.

When he meets again with Luffy, Sanji orders him to go as far as he can because he doesn’t want to see him anymore. But Luffy doesn't want to move from the place until Sanji rejoins. The enraged Sanji then strike Luffy until he’s unconscious. Later, Sanji is shown crying because he wants to rejoin his crew so bad. In the end, Sanji nursing him by giving him food.

5. Going Merry Farewell

Still on Water Seven episode and regarding Going Merry. Luffy and crew must give up on Going Merry which cannot sail anymore. Lead by Luffy, Going Merry’s funeral is held by burning.

Many fans admit that they are crying and feel Straw Hat’s sadness because they have to bid farewell on Going Merry. This scene is included as one of many saddest moments in One Piece.

6. Straw Hat Crew Get Separated

The scene where Straw Hats Pirates get separated becomes the next saddest moment. In Sabaody Archipelago, Luffy and others must face Bartholomew Kuma. Because they’re not strong enough facing him, Luffy orders his crew to flee.

But Kuma halts them and sending one by one into different places using Nikyu Nikyu no Mi. Here, fans must feel the same way as Luffy does because he must separate from his friends.

7. Ace and Shirohige’s Deaths

For years, no character truly stays dead in One Piece, but the record is broken when Ace and Shirohige must die in the Battle of Marinefort. To protect his brother, Ace must die in front of Luffy.
This is also happening on Shirohige to protect his men. Aside from making Luffy drown in grief, Ace’s death also creates a deep sorrow for his fans.
