Anime & Manga | 05 July
Those who only know Captain Tsubasa from the anime might assume that the Drive Shot is the only Tsubasa Ozora’s mainstay shot. While in fact, aside from the Drive Shot, in Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team, he has various other special shooting techniques up in his sleeves. What are those tricks? Check out the list below!
1. Counter Arrow Shot
Tsubasa acquired this technique after kicking back the ball fired by the "Ace Killer", Sho Shunko, with his Han Dou Shuu Soku Jin Hou. By pulling back his leg with his hand like a bow, Tsubasa kicked back the ball with twice the force. This one’s a rather fascinating technique as it serves as a counter to a counter shot.
2. Flying Drive Shot
While the Drive Shot is a long-shot that dives down, it’s quite the contrary for the Flying Drive Shot. This shot is also performed from a long distance, the difference that rather than only diving down, the ball will also curve to the side. It’s highly likely that this shot will never be able to stop by a goalkeeper who just saw it for the first time. Tsubasa used this technique for the first time when he’s playing for Sao Paulo against Carlos Santana.
3. Wing Shot
Even though it also rotates sharply, this shot is different than the Skywing Shot. The ball doesn’t dive into the goal but rather swoops upwards as if it has wings.
4. Skydive Shot
This shooting technique was acquired due to Tsubasa’s strong will to surpass the high level of his mentor, Roberto Hongo. Skydive Shot was used in the match between Japan against Brazil in the World Cup. By keeping the ball on his forefoot, Tsubasa dives into the goal.
5. Skywing Shot
Skywing Shot is a technique created by Roberto Hongo which he taught to Tsubasa. By hitting the ground with his foot prior to shooting, Tsubasa will add sharper rotation to the ball, so that it will swoop up as it goes into the goal. Interestingly enough, the ball will go as if it has wings. This technique isn’t exclusively mastered by Tsubasa, but also his rival, Carlos Santana.
6. Skywing Twin Shot
Both in the anime and manga, this shot doesn’t exist, as it’s exclusive to Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team. The two aces who mastered the Skywing Shot, Tsubasa Ozora and Carlos Santana run-up to each other and kick the ball together using the technique, creating the Skywing Twin Shot. Similar to Skywing Shot, the ball will swoop up, but the rotation will be unpredictable as it’s fired by two players.
7. Superspeed Kickback Cannon [Tiger]
This skill isn’t exclusively owned by Kojiro Hyuga, but also Tsubasa Ozora. That’s because this technique can only be carried out when Tsubasa and Hyuga are on the pitch at the same time as it involves these two players. Tsubasa who failed to get pass through an opponent will pass the ball to Hyuga, then Hyuga will fire the ball with all his might. If it’s a goal, there will be a tiger animation that charging into the opponent’s goal.
Those were some most powerful shots by Tsubasa Ozora in Captain Tsubasa: Dream Team aside from the Drive Shot. Stick around for more info about anime, and don’t forget to follow Dunia Games on Facebook and Instagram to keep you updated on the latest exciting news and articles.
