7 Wild Yu-Gi-Oh Theories You Wouldn't Believe!
Even the most hardcore fans might not believe some of these wild Yu-Gi-Oh! theories!
Anime & Manga | 22 August
From the entire Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series, there are some interesting points that you can relate to one another. In Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V, we are shown that the anime is in the same universe as the previous series. Aside from that, there are tons of other mysteries in Yu-Gi-Oh! that have not been revealed. So, here are the 7 wildest Yu-Gi-Oh! theories!
1. Atem is Actually Yugi in the Future
This particular wild Yu-Gi-Oh! theory could just be true. From their appearances alone, Yugi Mutou and Yami Yugi, aka Atem, are eerily similar. There’s a theory saying that in the next few years, Yugi will grow into Atem.
This theory originates from the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX series, when Judai collides with Yugi and gets the Winged Kuriboh from him. Yugi, whose face was not shown at that time, had a very similar voice to Yami Yugi. Even though in the original series, Yami Yugi/Atem’s soul has returned to his era, around 3,000 years from now. Thus, there’s a possibility that Yugi Mutou has grown into Yami Yugi.
2. Yugi’s Complex Imagination
This one might trigger some of the most devoted fans of the series. What if everything that happened to Yugi was actually just his imagination? It turns out that Yugi is just a student who has a wild imagination that involves dueling monsters.
In other words, every odd occurrence that happened around Yugi was just in his mind. This doesn’t necessarily mean that Yugi has some mental issues, but he just has a wild dream to come up with the story. In the writer’s opinion, this theory can’t be right. But, what do you think?
3. Atem is Actually Yugi’s Other Conscience
The next crazy Yu-Gi-Oh! theory is that Yugi is actually Atem’s other conscience and vice versa. This theory says that Yugi protects Atem and prevents him from doing evil things to his opponents. There are some cases where Yami Yugi shows his tyrannical side, like cursing them. Therefore, Yugi is there to prevent him from doing these kinds of things.
Yugi and Atem’s conscience became one when he managed to solve the Millenium Puzzle.
4. Yugi’s Father Has Passed Away
Throughout the story, Yugi’s father was never shown. Yugi lives with his grandfather, Sugoroku. In the manga, it is explained that Yugi’s father works abroad.
Some fans believe that Yugi’s father has actually passed away. And Atem is actually replacing his father to watch over him. Some of them even believe that Yugi has never met his father.
5. Yugi is Atem’s Reincarnation
At the end of the story, we learn that Yami Yugi is actually Atem, the ancient Egyptian Pharaoh who lived 3,000 years ago. Initially, Atem was a soul who guides Yugi in a duel. But over time, we can notice that Yugi and Atem start to look more alike.
There’s a theory that says Yugi is actually Atem’s reincarnation. This theory makes more sense than the one which says that Atem is Yugi’s in his older days. Yugi is completely the opposite of Atem when it comes to their characteristics.
6. The Yugi-Judai Duel is Actually Never Happened
At the end of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, Judai Yuki duels against Yami Yugi. We never saw the ending of the duel and will never know how it actually ends. One fan theory says that the duel never happened. It’s just Judai’s imagination.
The logic behind this is because shortly after the graduation announcement, Judai takes a nap. It feels odd if Yugi arrives in Duel Island at such an uncertain time. On top of that, in Bonds Beyond Time, Yugi seems to be just met Judai for the very first time. Thus, there’s a possibility that the Judai-Yugi duel only happened in Judai’s mind.
7. An Alternate Timeline
The next theory says that Yu-Gi-Oh! series happen in the same universe, but in different timelines. Both Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monster and Yu-Gi-Oh! GX share the same universe and timeline. While the next series after those two set in different timelines. The theory says that Yu-Gi-Oh! 5ds is set 20 years after the GX series, while the Zexal series is set in a different timeline than 5ds’.
A year or two after the GX series, Kaiba created a new system called Ener-D, which later continued to 5ds. The theory suggests that the technology wasn’t made in Zexal’s timeline since something has happened to Kaiba. This leads to another timeline in the same universe.
Those were some of Yu-Gi-Oh! wildest theories that would make you question everything about the series. If you find this entertaining, feel free to share this article with your pals.
