5. Taught Shikamaru to Believe in His Comrades

When Sasuke went to Orochimaru's place, Tsunade ordered Shikamaru and 4 other ninjas to bring him back. This was Shikamaru's first mission as a Chuunin. They failed to bring Sasuke back even though they managed to defeat the opponent.

The death of Shikaku is one of the saddest moments in Naruto Shippuden. He died along with his best friend Inoichi and the allied troops who were also at the headquarters. When faced with death, Shikaku was truly brave. He even managed to prepare a plan to defeat the Juubi before his death.
