Texhnolyze is a psychological anime by Madhouse studio. The anime was released in Spring 2003 and takes place in a fantasy city called Lux. The city is completely underground and run by three factions, Organo, Salvation Union, and Racan. Organo is an organization that works with criminals to control Texhnolyze.

The second faction is the Salvation Union, which has always been fighting against the Organo. The third faction is the Racan, a group of people who use Texhnolyze for their gain. The story focuses on Ichise, a warrior with Texhnolyze arms and legs. Ichise works at Organo where he meets Ran, a fortune-teller girl. They work together to save Lux from a civil war. Texhnolyze consists of 22 episodes and has one season.

4. Metropolis

Released on May 26, 2001, this anime sets in Metropolis, a technologically advanced city where humans and robots live together. The story focuses on Detective Oyaji Hige, also known as Shimsali Ban, and his nephew Kenichi Shikishima.

Kenichi frees an amnesiac girl named Tima from a laboratory ran by Duke Red, the ruler of Metropolis. Kenichi does everything he could to protect Tima. The two of them then go on an adventure throughout Metropolis.

5. Ergo Proxy

Released in 2006, Ergo Proxy is a psychological, mystery anime. This anime is set in Romdo, a city trapped within a large dome. As the last remaining civilization on Earth, there is no life outside the dome. AutoReivs are built inside the dome to help ensure humans’ survival.

AutoReivs is a humanoid robot that has a virus called the Cogito Virus. This virus gives them the ability to think like humans. Re-I Mayer is assigned to investigate the Cogito Virus where later finds mythical entities known as Proxies, and the investigation is later related to human life in Romdo. Ergo Proxy consists of 23 episodes and has one season.

6. Blame!

Blame! is a science fiction film released on May 20, 2017. The series also has six special episodes. This anime is set in the future with technology that is far more advanced than today’s, where everything in the world moves automatically. One day, an infection hits the city’s automated systems, making it out of control.

Safeguard is a city defense system to protect the city. If the Safeguard detects a human presence, the system will send Safeguards to eliminate the target. The story focuses on Killy the Wanderer, the leader of Blame! who are looking for Net Terminal Genes to restore the city.

7. Psycho-Pass

This anime is set in the 22nd century in Japan. The new system, known as the Sibyl System, is implemented on each citizen. This system assesses the threat level to society that each person has and works as their Psycho-Pass.

Section 9 is a police unit that operates independently. They focus on crimes that are related to this technology. Section 9 is led by Motoko Kusanagi. She is tasked with capturing "The Laughing Man", a hacker who tries to get popular and responsible for various crimes in Japan.
