Playstation 2 becomes the first console where the players can experience a large improvement in graphics compared to the predecessor. Playing every game in this console feels like it was so real at that time, including fighting games. But there are some worst fighting games released in this console. Here are those worst fighting games in Playstation 2 history according to Dunia Games!
1. Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects
Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects is a fighting game that is released on Playstation 2, Xbox, GameCube, NDS, and PSP. In this game, players will play as superheroes from Marvel Universe and superheroes and villains created by EA games. To unlock all characters, players have to beat the Story Mode.
When it was released, this game looked promising. Sadly, the only thing that makes this game looks cool is only the graphics. Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects is considered a failure because it tries to mix beat ‘em up and platformer in a fighting game.
2. Inuyasha: Feudal Combat
Inuyasha: Feudal Combat is a fighting game where players will fight following the anime storyline. For the 3D fighting game, the arena offered is too small, added with an imbalance roster, like undeveloped combos, making the fighting feels boring.
Because the combo unleashed not so powerful, players won’t feel tired to execute combos. Inuyasha fans might love this game, but not with fighting games fans.
3. Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This At Home
Backyard Wrestling: Don't Try This At Home is a wrestling game that takes place outside the arena. Yep, players can fight as they wish near someone’s house or in a backyard. You can beat your opponent with the items you found on the stage.
Sadly, the game’s mechanics is unsuitable with the arena offered. This game also inconsistent whether this game is a fighting game or a wrestling game. If this game developed enough, it would be better.
4. Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World
Unlike most fighting games that developed from PlayStation 1 to PlayStation 2, Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World shows a compelling fighting mechanics. The animations don’t look interesting, as well as punches and kicks that are seen slow. To be honest, this game is not that bad, but it’s below Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 that also released in Playstation 2.
5. One Piece: Pirates' Carnival
One Piece: Pirates' Carnival is also included as one fo the worst fighting games in PlayStation 2. As the most popular anime in the world, it’s no surprise that there are plenty of One Piece game released. But from all One Piece games released in existence, this game is the worst.
The first, the so-called “fighting game” doesn’t look like a fighting game at all because it comes with plenty of mini-games. Then, there’s nothing more interesting from this game. You will get bored easily playing this. One Piece Grand Battle 2 in PS1 still worth it to play.
6. Backyard Wrestling 2: There Goes The Neighborhood
Similar to the predecessor, Backyard Wrestling 2: There Goes The Neighborhood also one fo the worst fighting games of all time in Playstation 2. No improvements whatsoever from the predecessor, but instead, the graphics that show the chaos in the arena come worse.
Some players might be getting bored fast playing this game, added with uncustomized controls.
7. Zatch Bell! Mamodo Fury
In Zatch Bell! Mamodo Fury, a teenager named Zatch will fight with a pokemon creature look-alike named Mamodo. No combos can’t be executed on this game so players will be more relying on button mashing.
This game seems like combining Pokemon gameplay with the fighting genre. The camera also bad enough, making it uncomfortable to play in a long time. Zatch Bell! Mamodo Fury becomes one of the forgettable games in Playstation 2.
8. MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch
MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch is based on a program in MTV of the same name. In this game, players will have a deathmatch using celebrities featured in the show. One thing that makes the game interesting is the game manages to depict the gore as seen on the show.
Due to easy AI makes this game less challenging. The gameplay also not too addictive. The game was released long after the show ended. If this game was released when the show still aired, probably it could have been a cult classic.
So that’s the list of the worst fighting games in PlayStation 2 of all time. As a fighting game enthusiast, you don’t have to play those games above. Seriously, don’t!
