There are many interesting characters in One Piece appear throughout the series. Some of them work as double agents. In this article, Dunia Games wants to discuss characters who once served both as a Marine and a pirate in One Piece. Take a look at the article below!
1. Jango
Jango served as a villain in the Syrup village arc where Luffy met Usopp for the first time before finally recruiting him as the Straw Hat crew. Jango is a hypnotist who fights using sharp chakrams. The weapon nearly killed Kaya and injured Usopp.
After being defeated by Luffy and his friends, Jango somehow managed to join the Marines. Meanwhile, Kuro and his subordinates were captured by the Marines and apparently imprisoned in Impel Down.
2. Coby
Coby is a character who was introduced in the first episode. When he met Luffy for the first time, Coby was a member of the Alvida Pirates even though he only acted as a worker. At that time, Coby was a coward until he was inspired by Luffy who managed to beat Alvida.
Since then, Coby has had a dream to become a dashing Marine soldier. Together with Helmeppo, he was trained under the command of Lieutenant Dalmatian to become very strong. Coby also mastered Kenbunshoku Haki which was first seen in the Battle of Marineford.
3. Vergo
Vergo is a member of the Doflamingo family who is also a Marine. Doffy asked him to join the Navy at the age of 26 to get certain benefits. For 15 years, Vergo continued to help Doflamingo commit crimes while covering up his crimes.
Vergo was defeated by Law at Punk Hazard. After that, Smoker caught him and reported it to Akainu. Vergo is then dishonorably discharged from the Marines.
4. Diez Barrel
Before being shown as a pirate, Diez Barrel was a Marine. For some reason, he left the Marines and became a pirate instead. Somehow, he was able to get the Ope Ope no Mi and was about to sell it to the Marines for 5 billion Belly.
The Ope Ope no Mi was then stolen by Corazon to give to Law because that fruit is the only thing to save his life. Diez was killed by Doflamingo. He's the father of X-Drake.

5. Donquixote Rosinante
Rosinante was the younger brother of Doflamingo. After his father's death, he joined Doflamingo under the name Corazon. In reality, Rosinante joined the Marines to stop Doflamingo. Corazon decided to run away from Doflamingo's place to save Law.
His disguise was exposed by Vergo who knew Corazon's destination. He was then killed by his own brother. Since then Law holds a grudge against Doflamingo. That was one of the reasons why he allied with Luffy.
6. Shiryu
Shiryu is a former warden of Impel Down who's eventually imprisoned on the 6th floor for brutally killing prisoners. Due to working in prison that confines pirates, let's just say that Shiryu had worked as part of the Marines.
Later, Teach freed him from the 6th floor and recruited him into his crew. Currently, he is one of the captains of the Ten Titanic Blackbeard Pirates. Shiryu also has the Suke Suke no Mi ability after Teach took it from Absalom.
7. X-Drake
From the beginning, Drake is a member of the Marines. He leads a secret Marine organization called SWORD. To become a spy in the group, Drake left the Marines and founded his own pirate crew. Drake is also known as one of the Worst Generations with a bounty of 220 million Belly before the time skip.
After joining Kaido's crew, he became a member of Tobi Roppo. After his disguise was exposed, he had no other choice but to form an alliance with Luffy.
8. Aokiji
Aokiji is a former Marine Admiral who had faced off against the Straw Hats. Because he ate Logia fruit, Kuzan becomes a very formidable fighter. Unfortunately, he was defeated by Akainu for the position of Fleet Admiral.
After his defeat, Aokiji left the Marines and joined the Blackbeard Pirates. Burgess didn't believe it because Aokiji was a former Marine. There is also a theory that Aokiji is one of the SWORD members in disguise, just like Drake.
