On his journey to find One Piece and become the Pirate King, Luffy encounters and fight various dangerous opponents. Not all of those opponents could be defeated because Luffy got beaten up several times instead. Here are various moments when Luffy got beaten up in One Piece! 

1. Luffy vs Smoker

Luffy’s first defeat happened at Logue Town, precisely when he faced Smoker. Smoker who is the eater of Logia-type of Devil Fruit, Moku Moku no Mi, making him a Smoke Human. At that time, Luffy still didn’t understand anything about Haki at all.

No matter how much he tried to fight Smoker at that time, it is impossible for him to win. At that time, Smoker had wanted to give final blow to Luffy. Fortunately, Dragon appeared and stopped the Marine Captain.

2. Luffy vs Crocodile

Just like when he faced Smoker, Luffy could not do anything before learning about Crocodile weaknesses. The leader of Baroque Works is the Suna Suna no Mi eater that allows him to create and manipulate sand at will. 

This fruit is a Logia-type that makes the users cannot be attacked in ordinary way. Luffy, who didn’t know anything about Crocodile’s power, recklessly challenged him and utterly defeated. If Nico Robin didn’t help him, Luffy would have died buried in the sand.

3. Luffy vs Aokiji

Prior to joining the Water Seven, Luffy and friends encountered one of the Marine Admirals, Aokiji. Robin who already knew about the horror of Aokiji’s power was completely speechless with fear. However, Luffy and his friends dared to fight him.

Even with the help from Zoro and Sanji, Luffy still could not defeat this Hie Hie no Mi eater. Aokiji is able to defeat them easily. Fortunately, Aokiji who still had mercy released them all.

4. Luffy vs Rob Lucci

Rob Lucci is the member of CP9 who is the eater of Neko Neko no Mi, Model Leopard, allows him to transform into a leopard. During their first encounter, Luffy was utterly defeated by Lucci with claw wounds on his chest. Luffy was finally able to defeat Lucci at Enies Lobby by using Full Power Gatling Gun.

At that time, Luffy and Lucci still could not use Haki. If only they meet again after the timeskip, surely their fight will be far more interesting than the previous one. In One Piece Stampede, Sabo can fight equally against Lucci.

5. Luffy vs Sentomaru and Pacifista

At Shabaody, Luffy had a hard time fighting Sentomaru and Pacifista. Luffy who has not been able to master Haki, cannot launch any attack to Sentomaru. Similar to when he was fighting against Pacifista, Luffy was completely powerless. Even the entire Straw Hat crew could not defeat this cyborg back then.

6. Luffy vs Magellan

Magellan was not an opponent that Luffy could beat at that time, it would be very dangerous if the body that was not covered in Busoshoku Haki exposed to his poison. Luffy was defeated by Magellan’s Hydra attack, leaving deadly poison in his body.

Luckily, Luffy still can be saved by Mr. 2 and Ivankov even though he has to sacrifice a little of his age. After being cured by Ivankov, Luffy’s body is immune to various types of poisons. Do you think that the current Luffy can win against Magellan?

7. Luffy vs Sanji

Although at that time Luffy did not attack Sanji at all, many people assumed that this was a fight. Luffy, who stubbornly invited Sanji to come back to the Straw Hat, had to be beaten up by the chef.

8. Luffy vs Kaido

This is Luffy's greatest foolishness because he was dare to challenge a Yonkou. Though Law had repeatedly told him not to challenge Kaido. Luffy's anger could not be contained after he saw his friends were hit by Kaido's deadly attack.

He was recklessly ran to hit Kaido in his dragon form. At the beginning of the battle, Luffy did looked like he got the upper hand. But after Kaido returned to his human form, Luffy lost in just one attack and was thrown into Udon Prison.
