On August 13, 2021, a film about Video Games featuring Ryan Reynolds entitled Free Guys will be released. Free Guy is a film about a young man named Guy (Ryan Reynolds) who turns out to be an NPC in a video game. Taika Waititi is also cast in this film as one of the game developers. After getting a sophisticated pair of sunglasses, Guy tries to become a hero in the game.

If you like Marvel, you must be really looking forward to Free Guy because this film features Ryan Reynold who plays Deadpool and Taika Waititi who plays Korg. After a reaction video to the trailer of Free Guy by Deadpool and Korg, many fans speculate that Wade Wilson has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe or MCU. 1. Grand Theft Auto (GTA): Vice City

Grand Theft Auto or GTA is a popular game and played by many, Free Guy's story is about Guy played by Ryan Reynolds who adventures in an open-world game like GTA that allows him to explore a city called Free City. That's why the promotional poster for Free Guy parodies Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

It reads Free Guy Free City, the poster is like the cover of all Grand Theft Auto games which is a collage of the characters who play a role in the story. Besides Ryan Reynolds, there are other actors and actresses featured here, namely Jodie Comer, Lil Rel Howery, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Joe Keery, Taika Waititi, Camille Kostek, as well as a goldfish who will have an adventure with Guy.

2. Street Fighter

Street Fighter is a legendary Fighting game and is suitable to be parodied as one of the promotional posters for Free Guys because the fighting scenes of the fighters are identical to the fight scenes in Free Guy. Originally, the Street Fighter poster showed the Japanese fighter Ryu character lying with the Brazilian monster Blanka and an Interpol from China named Chun-Li who fought nearby.

However, in this parodied poster for Free Guy, Ryan Reynolds is releasing his spinning move replacing Blanka who was beaten by Jodie Corner's deadly kick, who replaces Chun-Li, complete with a spiked bracelet typical of the most popular kung fu fighter girl. Ryu, who was lying in the fight, was replaced by Taika Waititi, who is also an important character in Free Guy.

3. Super Mario 64

The legendary plumber from Italy named Mario is also parodied in one of the posters for Free Guy. Taking the theme of the legendary Super Mario 64 from the legendary Nintendo 64, Ryan Reynolds as Guy who is flying above the city appears to be depicted in 3D art.

The Super Mario 64 title is replaced with the colorful Free Guy 21 text, which indicates that Free Guy will be released in 2021, to be precise on August 13, 2021.

4. Doom

The futuristic and technology themes displayed in Free Guy lead the creative team to parody a legendary game titled DOOM.

With a retro feel to its Post-Apocalyptic theme, this Free Guy poster parodying Doom features Ryan Reynolds with his laser gun surrounded by other cast depicting Doom-styled riots.

5. Megaman

Besides Street Fighter, another Capcom’s legendary game titled Megaman is being parodied. The thick nuance of an old school game from the 1980s or 1990s shows the hilarious expression of Ryan Reynolds carrying his gun and also a fishbowl containing goldfish.

Jodie Corner and Taika Waititi also appear in the retro poster, which looks like the cover of the Nintendo Entertainment System or NES game. Konami as the name of a famous game studio is parodied as Soonami in this promotional poster.

6. Animal Crossing

The popularity of Animal Crossing in 2020 is also why it’s being parodied in the poster of Free Guy. The only animal here is the goldfish that Ryan Reynolds always carries along with his fishbowl.

There’s also a pink rabbit even though it's actually a costume worn by one of the characters in Free Guy. Taika Waititi, Jodie Corner, and other Free Guy cast members are designed to look like the adorable Animal Crossing characters.

7. Among Us

Among Us that went viral in 2020 is also parodied in the poster of Free Guy. This online multiplayer game, which is famous for guessing who is the Impostor, is parodied by Ryan Reynolds and the cast of Free Guy in astronaut costumes in the style of the Among Us game.

Yellow, which is usually “Sus”, also appears here, containing the goldfish that Guy always carries with him. Does this mean the goldfish is the real Impostor?

8. Minecraft

Minecraft is a popular game by Mojang studio which is played by many because of the unique gameplay and also the graphics presented. The promotional poster for Free Guys also parodies the design of Minecraft by featuring Ryan Reynolds in pixelated graphics.

Not to forget, the goldfish that is always with Guy is also on the poster, but here the fish is not in a fish bowl but is walking on land like a cat.
