Kite is one of the characters in Hunter x Hunter who has a massive impact on Gon Freecs, especially in the Chimera Ant arc. Since this character only makes a handful of appearances in the entire anime series, perhaps you still have some questions regarding his story in Hunter x Hunter.
So, on this occasion, Dunia Games would like to give you 9 fascinating facts about the Hunter, Kite, from Hunter x Hunter. Without further ado, let’s get into it!
1. Had a Difficult Past
Starting at number one, Kite had a difficult past growing up. He doesn’t even know where he was born and lived alongside animals in a dirty, disease-infested alley.
However, he crossed paths with Ging Freecss and was taught the basics of being a Hunter, including Nen, to the point where he became an expert in using his Nen abilities.
2. He Met Gon Before Their Encounter After the Greed Island Arc
When Kite was looking for Ging on Whale Island, he met Gon, who was eight, for the first time as he was being attacked by a Foxbear mother protecting her cub. Kite saved Gon by killing the Foxbear mother before punching and scolding Gon because his ignorance had caused him to kill the animal.
Kite was going to kill the cub, believing that the animal would grow up hating humans – endangering any human who’d come across it. However, Gon stopped Kite and vowed to raise the cub.
Kite then realized that Gon was Ging’s son and told him that his father didn’t die in an accident as he had been told by Mito, but he’s actually a professional Hunter. Kite then left Ging’s Hunter license before continuing his search for Ging.
3. His First Weapon Was a Katana
During his first encounter with Gon, Kite used a long, slightly curved katana (also known as a Tachi) as his main weapon. The weapon has a black scabbard with a hilt with no tsuba. He carried the weapon on his left shoulder through a piece of thread attached to its koiguchi and used it to kill the Foxbear who was attacking Gon.
4. An Expert in Hand-to-Hand Combats
Although it seems that Kite prefers to rely on his weapons, he’s also highly skilled in using his bare hands in fights. In the anime, Kite once landed a deadly blow on Yunju with a high kick on his face.
5. His Nen Type is Gugenka (Conjuration)
Kite’s Nen type is Gugenka (conjuration) since he was trained by Ging Freecss, who’s one of the best Nen users in the world. Kite is known to have an overwhelmingly powerful aura – his En has a radius of about 45 meters, depending on his physical and mental condition.
Gugenka refers to the ability to conjure up an object or manipulate the size or shape of objects using the aura of the conjurer. However, the Gugenka user has to create certain conditions and apply them to the object.

6. His Special Ability is Called Crazy Slots
Kite’s Nen special ability is called “Crazy Slots”, which allows him to conjure some weapons with a clown affixed to them. When in use, a roulette appears on the clown’s tongue with numbers from 1-9, with each corresponding to a specific weapon.
Whatever number randomly appears, and the weapon corresponds to that number is conjured – meaning that Kite cannot choose which weapon to summon. He included this restriction to increase the power of each weapon. The one that’s drawn will not disappear until used.
According to Ging, Crazy Slots has a number that only appears when Kite is in a desperate situation.
7. Only 3 of the Crazy Slots Weapons Have Been Shown
- Scythe #2: Kite conjures up a sharp and massive scythe, and it won’t disappear until Kite uses his Silent Waltz – the only way for the weapon to be utilized;
- Mace #3: Kite conjures up a clown-like mace/stick that he wields with a reverse grip. The true use of this weapon remains largely unknown, but the clown refers to it as a good draw.
- Carbine #4: Kite conjures up a carbine that resembles a long-barreled handgun with a comically long buttstock. This weapon allows him to shoot powerful bullets in rapid succession without making any noise.
8. Killed by Neferpitou
When Kite, Gon, and Killua were heading to Chimera Ant’s nest, Kite suddenly sensed Neferpitou’s aura. Aware of the danger that was approaching them, Kite yelled at Gon and Killua to save themselves, claiming that they both would only be a hindrance to him.
Kite used his Crazy Slots to conjure up a Mace to buy some time for Gon and Killua to escape. Kite wasn’t able to withstand the Chimera Ant’s power and was killed by Neferpitou.
9. Reincarnated by His Crazy Slots
The reason how Kite got reincarnated is largely debatable. However, it’s highly likely that his Crazy Slots had something to do with Kite’s resurrection. The mechanics of Kite’s rebirth are still a mystery. Yet one of the possibilities is that the Crazy Slots moved Kite’s soul to the body of the gestating Chimera Ant Queen.
