For competitive Pokemon players, starting from Pokemon Sword and Shield, Pokken, to Pokemon Trading Card Game, undoubtedly familiar with Pokemon World Championship. In this annual event, all Pokemon Trainers will compete with each other in many branches to be the very best in the world.

After successfully held in Washington DC, United States last year, the next Pokemon World Championship was scheduled to be held in London, United Kingdom, on August 14 to16. But due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the last few months, Pokemon Company forced to cancel this tournament.

AKG Games announced this news as the publisher of Pokemon Trading Card Game in Indonesia during their press release. Pokemon Company stated that the cancellation of Pokemon World Championship 2020 is to maintain health and safety for all competitors, sponsors, staffs, and Pokemon communities.

Not only cancelling the Pokemon World Championship 2020 Grand Finals in London, but the press release also said that The Pokémon Company would cancel “2020 National Championships”, "Regional League" and "Town League" for the health and safety reason as well.

Later, the priority rights to participate in "National Championships" which gained from seasonal 2020 tournaments or the rights that acquired by Pokemon Trainers from other events will be moved and applies to all seasonal competitions in 2021 next year.

In the same website also, Pokemon Company stated that the next year’s tournament would also be held in London. This company also said that the re-implementation for the future official matches will be decided more carefully by following the rules and instructions from the government and official agencies, and will be announced via Facebook and other official accounts.
