Without any precursor, Marvel Studios released the latest trailer for Eternals. In the three-minute video, Marvel also announced the titles and release dates of the Phase 4 movies.

The video relieves fans who have been excited to see Eternals although the snippets are quite short. So, here is some interesting info about Eternals that you should know. Check this out.

1. What Are The Eternals

First, let’s find out what Eternals are. The Eternals are a humanoid alien race with superpowers and an incredibly long lifespan, basically immortal. Each of them comes with unique superpowers that make Eternals a powerful race.

The Eternals originated as the result of the experiment conducted by the Celestials, giant aliens who have been around since the dawn of the universe. They visited earth thousands of years ago and began their mission.

After arriving on earth, Celestials took prehistoric humans as the object of their experiment, and two races were born: Eternals and Deviants. The Eternals have good nature and great physical form, while the Deviants have destructive behaviors with bad appearance. The two races fought each other for thousands of years.

2. Synopsis

Although there’s still a little info that we can gather so far about Eternals, the studio has released the synopsis of the movie.

In short, the Eternals will continue the events from Avengers: Endgame (2019), which unexpectedly caused the Eternals, the ancient race of aliens who have secretly lived on earth for thousands of years, have to join forced to fight the Deviants, who threaten humanity.

This synopsis is quite similar to the comic book version, where the Eternals always protect humans from the Deviants.

Interestingly, Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, once said that the Eternals are aware of the Avengers, but not the other way around. It’s because the Eternals have been on earth since 7,000 years ago and decided to blend in with the ordinary humans.

3. Who Are the Members?

In Eternals, there are so many important figures that get involved, and here are some of them. First, we have Ikaris (center right), the tactical leader of the Eternals who can fly and is able to emit cosmic rays from his eyes. Ikaris is portrayed by Richards Madden, who used to play in Game Of Thrones.

Next is Thena (second from right), a mighty Eternals warrior who has the ability to conjure any weapon using her cosmic power. Thena is played by the veteran actress, Angelina Jolie.

And we have Gilgamesh (far right), a formidable Eternal who can project the exoskeleton power, making him the strongest Eternal in this team. Gilgamesh is portrayed by Don Lee from Train to Busan.

Next, we have Sersi (center left), an Eternal who empathizes with humans and is willing to protect them. Sersi is Ikaris’ lover in the movie and is portrayed by Gemma Chan.

And then we have Sprite (second left), an Eternal who has the form of a 12-year-old girl who clearly surpasses her age in terms of her powers and brains. The Eternal with illusion manipulation power is played by the young Lia McHugh.

Last but not least, we have Kingo (far left), an Eternal who can shoot projectiles using cosmic power from his hands. Interestingly, in the movie, Kingo is a famous Bollywood star. Kingo is portrayed by the actor Kumail Nanjiani.

Aside from the members above, there are still several other characters not shown in the trailer. There’s Phastos, played by Brian Tyree Henry, a wise Eternal with insane intelligence who helps the development of human technology.

Ajak, who has healing abilities, is played by Salma Hayek, and Makkari, a lightning-fast Eternal who can travel an entire planet. Makkari is portrayed by Lauren Ridloff.

4. The Villains

Just like the aforementioned synopsis, the villains in this movie are the Deviants. In the comic book, both races are in a never-ending conflict and always compete.

Humans have always been the victims of the Deviants’ actions. Thus, the Eternals are focused on protecting humans.

Interestingly, with the recently released Marvel Legends toy, the supervillain in Eternals has been leaked. He’s Kro, the leader of the Deviants and Thena’s lover according to the comic book.

5. Release Date

The Eternals was set to release on November 6, 2020. But due to the pandemic, the studio postponed the date to February 12 until its final release date on November 5.
