The latest season of Pokemon GO: Mythical Wishes brings several events. One of which is the Dragon & Fairy-themed Twinkling Fantasy event.

This event is the perfect time for the game to introduce the new Mega Evolution, the Dragon-type Mega Evolution Salamence. Mega Salamence is one of the strongest Dragon-type Raid Attackers.

Mega Salamence appears in Mega Raid Battles with a Boss CP of 50,285. It's not too difficult to defeat this Pokemon, as long as you use the right attacks. Great attack-types that you can use against it are Rock, Fairy, and Dragon-types for the 160% Super Effective boost.

However, it's much better if you use Ice-type attacks for the  256% boost. This is because Mega Salamence has Double Weakness against Ice-type attacks. The two types of Mega Salamence, Dragon & Ice, are equally weak against Ice.

Furthermore, it is highly recommended to use Ice-type Pokemon to counter Mega Salamence. Some of the best counters are Galarian Darmanitan (Ice), Mamoswine, Kyurem, Mega Glalie, and Mega Abomasnow.

If you don't have this Pokemon yet, you can use more common Ice-type Pokemon, such as Glaceon and Weavile. With decent lineups, three Trainers can defeat Mega Salamence in Mega Raid Battles with ease.

But just to be sure, if your Pokemon aren't that strong, you can invite your friends for Mega Raid Battles.

You can beat Mega Salamence in Mega Raid Battles, then Mega Salamence will change to its original form, which is regular Salamence.

You have the chance to catch it, and if you're lucky, you can get the rare Shiny Salamence. Salamence will have a maximum CP of 2142 (level 20) when caught, or a maximum of 2678 (level 25) during the Windy weather boost.

Aside from catching Salamence, you will also get Mega Energy Salamence. You can use this Mega Energy to perform Mega Evolution on your Salamence. If you do Mega Evolution on a Pokemon, its evolution lasts for 8 hours before it returns to its original form.

Mega Evolutionized Salamence requires 200 Mega Energy, but after 1 Mega Evolution, Salamence can be Mega Evolved again for free without Mega Energy after the cooldown is over (usually 1 week). However, if you need it again before the cooldown time is over, you can still perform the Mega Evolution yet it requires more Mega Energy.
