Bijuu Mode Transformation is a unique power that Jinchuriki possess in the Naruto series. Having Tailed Beast sealed within, all Jinchuriki can ‘summon them’ to assist in battle; either to receive some amount of extra chakra supply or to transform into a full beast with tremendous power.
But in Naruto Uzumaki’s case, the Nine-Tailed Fox Jinchuriki has a different Bijuu Mode compared to the others. Instead of turning into a full beast, he turns into a chakra form in bright yellow with black stripes! How could this happen? Maybe these explanations can open your mind.
Naruto Only Received a Half of Kurama’s Chakra?
After we saw the death of Kushina and Minato, as well as the birth of Naruto flashback, it was shown that Minato only sealed the half of the Nine-Tailed Beast’s chakra into his newborn son because he already losing too much energy in which Naruto received the Yin chakra while Minato stored the Yang chakra, the other half.
From that scene, many people believed that thing makes Naruto cannot fully transform into perfect Bijuu Mode like the rest; changing or adding his limbs with the Biju’s body, like Killer B who can sprout tentacles or other Jinchuriki with growing tails, just to name a few. Added with a fact that Kurama is so stubborn and very hard to cooperate with, so it’s possible that he doesn’t want to lend his strength fully to help Naruto!
But after the end of the Fourth Shinobi World War, not only Naruto and Kurama understand each other, Kurama’s Yang chakra already stored into Naruto’s body. Even Naruto’s limitation where he only can summon chakra form also not proven -- as you can see above, he can summon Kurama’s full flesh-and-blood as seen in The Last: Naruto the Movie!
The Main Reason Why Naruto’s Transformation Is Different
There are two theories about why Naruto’s transformation so special and different than others (aside from the fact that he’s the series’ main protagonist):
1. The Seal’s Influence
The first theory is that the seal used by Minato to seal Kurama within Naruto, Hakke no Fuin Shiki, has certain properties.
In Naruto Chapter 91, Jiraiya said that the seal allows Naruto and Kurama’s chakra slowly melts -- instead of two individual chakras (Jinchuriki and Bijuu’s, respectively) separated and keep switching or giving chakra access when needed like all Jinchuriki did when they transformed or adding bodyparts with their respective Bijuu that sealed within.
In addition, in Naruto Chapter 496, Killer B also said that Hakke no Fuin Shiki is so powerful and more proficient to seal Bijuu compared to his Tekko Fuin.
In short: Hakke no Fuin Shiki allows Naruto and Kurama to separate each other chakras. So, when Naruto asks for Kurama’s power, he doesn’t need to transform into a full beast and just need to summon Kurama in chakra form.
2. Because He’s Ashura’s Reincarnation
There are also netizens theorize that Asura Otsutsuki has a similar form when fighting with Indra, his older brother. Simply put, he can unleash a form akin to Asura’s Kurama Mode.
From that, many people speculated that this transformation can happen because Naruto is an Asura’s reincarnation. Either for one reason or another, when Ashura’s chakra mixed with Bijuu’s chakra, then it allows them to transform into transparent bright yellow being with black stripes.
Even so, so far we don’t know whether Asura himself had once transformed into Jinchuriki or not. It’s possible that the chakra giant is a self-made without Bijuu’s chakra. Added with Minato; who is inevitably not Ashura’s reincarnation, can also transform into a similar being.
Bijuu Chakra Mode’s Advantages
"So the point is Naruto still gets a special privilege for that transformation?” It’s likely. Interestingly, transparent Bijuu transformation has certain advantages!
Stronger Bijuu Mode Regeneration
The first, the regenerative power. It’s true that Jinchuriki has additional regeneration power. Even under the Bijuu form, when one of Gyuki’s (the Eight Tailed-Beast) tentacle cut off, it can grow back again, even though he still feels excruciating pain.
Bue because the Kurama’s Bijuu mode made of non-solid chakra, if wounded, Kurama won’t feel the massive side effect. He just needs to lend another chakra and the two can continue fighting.
Flexible, Not Necessarily to Unleash the True Form
The second, still continuing the previous point, chakra’s form can be manipulated at will until it can turn into a robust shield. Naruto can easily hold off the giant Takami Musubi No Kami’s attack landed by Momoshiki during Boruto’s Chuunin Exam by unleashing Kurama’s chakra and later wrap it to minimize the damage it caused.
It’s safer from just unleashing into the normal Bijuu Mode, right? It feels like Kurama’s body size cannot fully wrap the attack completely. Yet again, the explosion can wound Kurama himself.
In addition, Naruto also once seen unleashing Kurama’s head in chakra form. Try to imagine the horror of Kurama’s actual head with fur and flesh comes out.
So that’s was two theories of why Naruto’s Bijuu Mode looks different than the others. Do you have other theories to share? Or do you agree with us, let us know in the comet section below.

Kalau alasannya karena keturunan indra kayaknya bukan. Karena yondaime hokage transformasinya sama persis kayak naruto. Kemungkinan besar karena jenis segel yang dipakai.
