Every year, and the 2020s have been a strong decade for anime. Lots of new anime like Chainsaw Man, Spy x Family, and Bocchi the Rock! have hit fans and deserve further new seasons, but several other modern anime haven't confirmed whether they will continue.

Production of new anime is very expensive and involves a lot of work. A series has to be popular and interesting in order to get a second or third season. Here are some modern anime that don't deserve the next season. So, what modern anime are included?

1. My Isekai Life

My Isekai Life is very predictable. Even in the clichéd isekai genre, My isekai Life is unable to provide an engaging and inspiring experience. Anime fans don't feel at all that the main character, Yuji, is in such a dangerous situation.

Yuji uses magic and fights against monsters, but even the intelligence in his fighting style does not make him attractive. The flat, forgettable fantasy world setting, coupled with the more boring protagonist, makes for a less impressive combination.

2. Engage Kiss

Engage Kiss is an exciting blend of cyberpunk, fantasy, and drama that is colorful and entertaining, making for an unforgettable viewing experience. In Bayron City, the attacks of evil creatures are increasing, and hunters like Shu Ogata and Kisara are tasked with hunting them down.

Shu and Kisara share a dark bond and are connected by a tragic and mysterious event that rocked Bayron City many years ago. This adds to the excitement in Engage Kiss, but the story is so neatly wrapped up in one season, there's no room for more.

3. My Master Has No Tail

My Master Has No Tail is an entertaining short comedy anime set in the Taisho era of Osaka, creating the perfect atmosphere for a rakugo performer looking to make the audience laugh. Mameda, a tanuki girl, is determined to become a rakugo performer, but she has a lot to learn to reach her goal.

Mameda has a cute relationship with her tsundere teacher, Bunko, and this anime also provides an interesting insight into traditional Japanese culture. It's a shame that the story ideas seem to run out so there won't be many new stories added in the coming seasons.

4. Black Summoners

Black Summoner is one of the more generic isekai released in recent years. This anime has a very light twist, like protagonist Kelvin's rare power as a summoner but other than that it's just a conventional isekai adventure.

This anime may be entertaining enough, but it only fills time during the anime season, and fans have little reason to return to watch it. Even though the end of season 1 brought about a bigger conflict, an average anime like this doesn't provide enough reasons to get a second season.

5. A Couple Of Cuckoos

A Couple of Cuckoos is 24 episodes long, but only the most devoted fans want more than that. This anime is a conventional comedy with a bit of a harem element set on the easily forgettable protagonist Nagi Umino, and even the best characters like Erika Amano aren't interesting enough to be a top waifu.

This anime tries to keep the audience entertained with humor, drama, and a bit of fan service, but it's nothing special or memorable.

6. Tokyo 24th Ward

Tokyo 24th Ward is a cyberpunk shonen anime that doesn't offer as extreme content as Edgerunners, but still appeals to sci-fi fans. The story of this anime takes place in the 24th ward of Tokyo, where tension surrounds the country's highly sophisticated surveillance system.

Shu Aoi, the protagonist, and his friends are embroiled in a social drama when they receive a message from their deceased friend, Asumi, who has fused with her high-tech surveillance system.

The anime is enjoyable viewing, but the story leaves no room for sequels, and the content isn't interesting enough to warrant a prequel or other spin-off.

7. I'm The Villainess, So I'm Taming The Final Boss

I’m The Villainess, So I’m Tamming the Final Boss is an isekai romance anime centered around Aileen Lauren d'Autriche, who is reborn in an otome game as a villainess. She will use her meta-knowledge and witty words to seduce demon lord Claude, then find a happy ending for everyone.

The story is cute and concise and has a solid conclusion, so there's no need for a sequel season. One season is enough for this isekai story, and the material also doesn't need any sequels or other spin-offs.
