The staff for Gekijō-ban Utano☆Princesama♪ Maji Love ST☆RISH Tours, an upcoming film from the Uta no Prince-sama franchise, recently posted a promotional video for Utano☆Princesama♪ Maji Love STRISH Tours: Tabi no Hajimari, a new animated TV special.

The 1-hour special will serve as a commemoration of the Uta no Prince-sama 2011 - Maji Love 1000% 10th anniversary, as well as an introduction to the upcoming movie. The special video features the behind-the-scenes story that takes place after the Uta no Prince Sama Maji Love Kingdom series that connects to the story in the upcoming film. All voice cast members from previous seasons of Uta no Prince-sama are reprising their roles. 

The special will premiere in Japan on 31 July at 8 JST on Tokyo MX and BS11. Chika Nagaoka returns to direct the special alongside Chiaki Nagai as the writer. Maki Fujioka is the character designer and the chief animation director, and A-1 Pictures will animate this project.

The first season of Uta no Prince-sama is an anime adaptation of the dating simulator from Broccoli. It was first released in Japan in July 2011. The first season featured a romantic comedy story with a dash of slapstick. The story follows a female protagonist who enrolls in a performing arts school where she meets young male idols. The next season follows the journey of the 7 young men who are now part of an idol group called ST☆RISH. 

The most recent series of this franchise is a movie titled Uta no Prince Sama Maji Love Kingdom, which aired in Japan in June 2019. Sentai Filmworks has licensed four seasons of anime series and a movie from this franchise. Gekijō-ban Utano☆Princesama♪ Maji Love STRISH Tours will premiere in Japan on 2 September.
