15 Best Anime To Watch If You Love Boku no Hero Academia

Boku no Hero Academia Season 6 is about to begin, and while waiting for the new season of BNHA, here are several anime series you can binge on!

Anime & Manga | 15 October

Boku no Hero Academia is one of the most popular anime series in the last couple of years. The superhero series boasts a compelling storyline and comedic moments that are also the main appeal of anime enthusiasts.

At the time of writing, Boku no Hero Academia is about to enter its 6th season. While waiting for the new season of My Hero Academia, you can watch several anime series of the same ilk.

So, what anime series you can binge on while waiting for the new season of Boku no Hero Academia? Without further ado, let’s get into it.

1. Hunter X Hunter

This anime series has so much to offer. One of the best-written series in anime history, Hunter X Hunter follows Gon, who goes on a journey to find his father, a widely-known Hunter.

He takes the Hunter Exam, makes some good friends along his adventures, becomes stronger, and meets some very interesting villains along the way.

Hunter X Hunter is quite similar to Boku no Hero Academia in terms of its emphasis on friendship and fighting opponents who are much stronger than them.

2. Little Witch Academia

From the name of the series alone, it's fair to assume that Little Witch Academia has similarities to Boku no Hero Academia. This anime follows Akko, a 16-year-old girl who dreams of becoming a witch, helping others, and making the world a better place.

Akko idolizes Shiny Chariot, a famous witch who becomes the role model for all the girls. Despite having no apparent magical powers, Akko enrolls at the Luna Nova wizarding school to pursue her dreams, and she makes many new friends and several enemies along her journey.

3. One Punch Man

If you love Boku no Hero Academia's superhero theme, then you will definitely love One Punch Man.

It tells the story of Saitama, a bald-headed superhero who's ridiculously strong that he can defeat his enemies with just one hit. He doesn't care that much about saving the world as he only wants to find a worthy opponent.

4. Ansatsu Kyoushitsu

The characters in this anime are definitely not superheroes as they are just ordinary high school students struggling not to fail in school. However, they are tasked with killing a yellow octopus-like creature that vows to destroy the earth in one year.

The creature, Koro-sensei, becomes their homeroom teacher and helps them improve their grades while teaching them how to kill him.

This anime is full of comedic moments along with some life lessons. Koro-sensei is somewhat similar to All Might as he is the inspiration for his students.

5. Yu Yu Hakusho

The oldest anime series on this list, Yu Yu Hakusho was written by the same author as Hunter X Hunter. Although the battle scenes are more similar to those in Dragon Ball given that both are from the same era, Yu Yu Hakusho still has some similarities to Boku no Hero Academia.

The protagonist, Yusuke, is a student who's revived by the Spirit World after dying in a car accident in exchange for becoming a Spirit Detective. He constantly fights evil forces to save the world and is accompanied by his classmate Kuwabara and two demons whom he ends up befriending during one of the missions.

6. Black Clover

One of the things fans love about Boku no Hero Academia is the well-written story. A weak and quirkless Deku still has the determination to be a hero regardless of his shortcomings.

He ultimately ends up getting a quirk, albeit in a very unusual way. Black Clover follows Asta, someone who has no magical abilities but still wants to become the Wizard King. Asta can fall in the same category as Deku, who's also granted some extraordinary powers that allow him to face the toughest challenges to realize his dreams.

7. Mob Psycho 100

Just like Deku, the protagonist of Mob Psycho 100, Mob, is a kind-hearted boy who possesses immense powers, which he has trouble controlling. But unlike Deku, Mob doesn't want to stand out or be someone special — he just wants to live a normal life like his peers.

Thus, he works as an assistant to a psychic to learn how to control his powers. However, troubles start coming after him, which force him to unleash the power that he has been trying to push down.

Mob Psycho 100 is less of a shounen than Boku no Hero Academia, but it still features some great fight scenes that you'll certainly enjoy.

8. Soul Eater

Next, we have Soul Eater, an anime series that tells about teenagers with supernatural abilities in a school environment. Even though they don't wear costumes or are called superheroes, they often engage in tense battles to save the world.

Soul Eater also features comedic moments and is lighthearted, but the series takes a serious turn when enemies appear. Each character also has a very interesting personality and abilities.

9. Ao No Exorcist

Just like Boku no Hero Academia and Soul Eater, the main characters in this series go to a special school to become stronger and learn how to defeat their enemies: Satan and his demon empire.

These students, called exorcists, are joined by Satan's own son, Rin, who vows to kill Satan with his own hands. Rin was adopted by a priest when he was a baby and didn't know he was Satan's son until his birth father killed his adoptive father. The tragic event makes Rin choose a path of revenge.

10. Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

The main character of this series, Tsuna, is so similar to Deku. They are both physically and mentally weak, and they both have little faith in their own strengths.

But later on, they meet a man who taps into their potential and changes their world forever. In contrast to Deku, who wants to become stronger, Tsuna is not interested in becoming stronger, he does not enjoy fighting and does not want to be what his mentor wants him to be, which is to become a mafia boss.

Although the plots are very different, both series have fun characters, amazing fight scenes, and great humor.

11. Naruto

Most anime fans have certainly heard of this series, even if they haven't watched or read the series. One of the big three shounen anime series (along with One Piece and Bleach), Naruto follows the story of an ostracized boy named Naruto Uzumaki.

He has just graduated from ninja school, and his big dream is to become the Hokage and a great ninja that everyone can look up to.

12. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Even though Edward and Alphonse Elric aren't enrolled at some unusual school, they are lovable characters on a mission to repair their shattered bodies and atone for the sinful act of trying to bring the dead back to life through alchemy.

Along the way, they get wrapped up in a sinister and incredible plot to conquer the world, meeting numerous villains and their minions. This anime features colorful characters, deep philosophical themes, and certainly some amazing combat scenes.

13. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure

Jojo is certainly a household name in the anime world that most anime fans may have heard of. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure features the Joestar family who, for generations, have fought the forces of evil.

In 1880s England, Jonathan Joestar faced off against vampire overlord Dio Brando. And in the 1980s, Jotaro Kujo takes on Dio and his minions once again.

The series features a stand, or physical avatars of one's fighting prowess, and stand combats have to be seen to be believed. They stand among the most creative and intense shonen action sequences of all.

14. Tiger & Bunny

In Tiger & Bunny, being a superhero is a real job. Superheroes, known as "NEXT", fight villains to earn hero points which they can use to appear on a reality TV show called HeroTV.

Basically, it's not just about saving the world, but also about profit. The protagonist is a veteran hero named Wild Tiger who, after a series of failures in his career, is paired with a rising hero named Barnaby. And similar to Deku and Bakugo, they don't get along.

15. Shokugeki no Souma

This anime follows Soma Yukihira, a cheerful and creative young chef who aspires to surpass his father, a master chef, and cook the best food ever.

Granted, he is a reckless and stubborn character, unlike Izuku Midoriya. He makes many friends as well as enemies. He also has a heart of gold and will lend a helping hand to anyone in need — just like Deku.
