In the 2020-released Diamond Casino & Resort DLC, Tao Cheng delivers a line that indicates the canonical ending for GTA 5. Tao Cheng says that he’s almost got killed at the Country Club in the Chumash area. The line implies the ending of GTA 5 if you chose the Deathwish option.

In that ending, Tao Cheng was about to leave the Country Club along with his father, Wei Cheng. Based on Tao Cheng’s line in the Diamond Casino & Resort DLC, we can conclude that Deathwish is the canonical ending for GTA 5.

It means that Michael, Trevor, and Franklin are all alive after the end of the storyline.

Over time, Rockstar gives hints regarding Trevor’s whereabouts. He does make some appearances in numerous GTA Online’s Apartment Heist missions, yet the Apartment Heist missions take place before the storyline in GTA 5.

With the release of the Gunrunning update (2017), the timeline of GTA Online skipped the events that take place in GTA 5 storyline. After that, all of the subsequent updates released in GTA Online take place in the current time.

Trevor’s Whereabouts After the Events of GTA 5

Months after releasing the Gunrunning update, Rockstar released an update called Smugglers Run in August 2017. In this update, the main character is Ron Jakowski, Trevor’s close friend in Shandy Shores.

In the intro cutscene, once the GTA Online player bought a Hangar, Ron Jakowski reveals some things regarding Trevor’s whereabouts.

That bast*rd Tre... uh, my best friend...

He’s supposed to protect me forever...

Then he goes all Vinewood on me...

He's too important for Ron now...

He's a guru.... he's a lifestyle coach...

I don't know what he is...

I bet he's got abs...

Based on his lines, Ron explicitly mentioned that he and Trevor are no longer in touch. Trevor has moved to Vinewood and pursues a career as a lifestyle coach.

In general, this profession revolves around health and fitness. Similar to Brucie Kibbutz in GTA 4, or Fabien LaRouche, Amanda’s yoga instructor. Surely it’s a career choice that is completely the opposite of Trevor, who has anger issues.

Will the shocking career choice taken by Trevor change his personality? Unfortunately, no one knows. Even in 2021, more details about Trevor are yet to be revealed. Hopefully, Rockstar will give Trevor a cameo appearance in the next titles.
