Eren Kruger was the previous inheritor of the Attack Titan before Grisha Yeager. In Chapter 89 of the manga or the end of the third season of the anime, you can see the scene where Eren Kruger mentions Mikasa and Armin before they were even born.
While you can see this theory in numerous forums, videos, and websites, some of the fans may still don’t understand it. So, if you are still confused about how Eren Kruger could know about the two characters, check out this article.
Who Was Eren Kruger?
Before we dive into the main topic, let’s find out who Eren Kruger really was, and why did he bestow the Attack Titan to Grisha.
Eren Kruger was an Eldian spy who posed as a Marleyan officer in the Public Security Authorities. He established the Eldian Restorationists and used the nickname the Owl. He also secretly possessed the power of the Attack Titan.
Years later, when Grisha was punished and about to be transformed into a Mindless Titan, Grisha was freed by Kruger, who intended to pass down the power of the Attack Titan to him in order to fulfill the Eldian Restorationists goal. Kruger also revealed to Grisha the history of the Founding Titans and King Fritz’s vow.
When Kruger was about to inject Grisha with the Titan serum, he asked him to find a family and complete his mission to save Armin and Mikasa. Grisha wasn’t sure that he knew about these names, and Kruger admitted that he didn’t know whose memories he was seeing.

How Could Eren Kruger Know About Mikasa and Armin?
As the holder of the power of the Attack Titan, Kruger had a unique ability, which allowed him to see the memories of the predecessors as well as the successors of the power of the Attack Titan -- simply put, their memories are interconnected. However, he could only see glimpses of these memories, not in full-detailed.
This ability allows those who hold the power of the Attack Titan to make their move and fight for their freedom.
So, the reason why Kruger was aware of Mikasa and Armin before they were even born is that he saw the memories of the future inheritor of the power of the Attack Titan.
Grisha Yeager had also used this ability once -- which was how he found out about the descendants of the Founding Titan from Eren’s memories in the future, Grisha even saw the Rumbling event and begged for Zeke to stop Eren’s plan.
There’s also a theory that says it was actually Eren from the future who accessed Kruger’s memories using the “Path”, which also happened to Grisha in the past.
Yup, the reason behind it is actually pretty simple. It was all due to the unique ability of the Attack Titan, which interconnects all of the holders’ memories. What do you guys think about this theory, do you agree with this? Let us know in the comments below!
