Boruto manga just released its latest chapter of this month chapter 54. What happens? The last chapter tells us about the battle of Naruto, Sasuke, and Kawaki fighting Isshiki Otsutsuki. Isshiki was defeated after running out of time and failing to put Karma in Kawaki’s body.

Their victory didn’t last long. Momoshiki resurfaced inside Boruto’s body and attacked Sasuke’s Rinnegan.

1. Kawaki’s Body is Close to Turning into Otsutsuki

Momoshiki attacked Kawaki to get close and check his body. From what Momoshiki said, the assimilation process of Isshiki Otsutsuki to Kawaki’s body is at 80%. Meaning we can think of Kawaki’s body as Otsutsuki, although it’s not perfect.

It benefits Momoshiki as his goal is to eat the chakra fruit from the God Tree. We know that an Otsutsuki has to be devoured by the Bijuu to harvest the fruit. And since Kawaki is almost an Otsutsuki, Momoshiki plans on sacrificing him.

2. Momoshiki’s Weakness in Boruto’s Body

We ask, how did Momoshiki takeover Boruto’s body from the last chapter. Sasuke answered the question in Chapter 54.

According to his observation, Momoshiki can take over his body after Boruto passes out from running out of chakra. When Borutp’s chakra is restored he will wake up and Momoshiki’s personality can be suppressed. The weakness is confirmed by Momoshiki himself.

3. Smart Kawaki

Kawaki and Sasuke tried to wake Boruto. By attacking him and even launching Talk no Jutsu. Unfortunately, nothing works.

Sasuke starts to suspect that Momoshiki that usually absorbs ninjutsu with his right hand, chooses to dodge any ninjutsu. Sasuke assumed that Momoshiki didn’t absorb chakra to avoid Boruto waking up.

Knowing this, Kawaki burns his body with a Fire Release jutsu. Momoshiki was forced to absorb the body to stop Kawaki from killing himself. Boruto wakes up and suppressed Momoshiki by breaking his horn.

4. Kawaki Considers Boruto His Brother

Fighting Boruto under the control of Momoshiki made Kawaki look back on their relationship. Boruto has been thinking of Kawaki like his brother and they started to interact more often. Kawaki starts to open his heart after the flower vase accident.

After being freed from Momoshiki, Boruto apologized to Kawaki for the trouble he caused. Kawaki replied by calling him stupid bro.

From this dialogue, we know that Kawaki already think of Boruto as his brother.

5. Naruto in Danger?

When Sasuke and Kawaki were fighting Momoshiki, the weakened Naruto lost consciousness. This may be an aftereffect of Baryon Mode.

But what made us curious is Sasuke’s reaction after the battle. He looked surprised as if something bad just happened. Is it a sign that Naruto will die? We can only know after the next chapter is published.
