The anime movie BLUELOCK -Episode Nagi-, a spinoff of Kota Sannomiya's Blue Lock manga, has just announced the presence of a new cast member that has caught the attention of fans. Chiaki Kobayashi has been entrusted to voice the character Ranze Kurona in the BLUELOCK -Episode Nagi- movie.
Ranze Kurona, a character who appeared in the last episode of the first season of the BLUELOCK anime, finally announced his voice actor after a long wait. The decision to announce Chiaki Kobayashi as the voice actor of this character certainly caused a lot of enthusiasm among fans.
Not only that, Ranze Kurona will also appear in the mini-anime episode "BLUELOCK Additional Time!" which is part of the movie. The episodes air after the credits and will present an interesting story that changes every week.
BLUELOCK -Episode Nagi- was successfully released in Japan on April 19th 2024, and screened in various formats such as IMAX, MX4D, and 4DX. In its first three days of screening, the movie sold 337,000 tickets and earned 463 million yen. The success made it ranked second at the Japanese box office on its opening weekend. In fact, as of May 5th 2024, the movie has grossed a cumulative total of 1,230,859,360 yen or around Rp123 billion.
Of course, the success of this movie cannot be separated from the hard work of all the cast members and staff involved in it. Assisted by the anime series' assistant director Shunsuke Ishikawa, along with the movie's director Taku Kishimoto, who is in charge of the series' script writing.
Kaneshiro from the manga creator team also oversaw the movie's story, while Nomura was the character designer. Jun Murayama composed the mesmerizing music, while Nissy and SKY-HI sang the theme song titled "Stormy".
The spinoff manga focuses on Seishiro Nagi before he enters the infamous Blue Lock facility. The good news is that Kodansha USA Publishing has announced that they will release this spinoff manga in print format in the fall of 2024. Not only that, the original Blue Lock manga has also been released in English, both digitally and in print format.
The anime series version of BLUELOCK premiered in Japan in October 2022 to rave reviews from fans. Crunchyroll and Netflix broadcast the series live and also broadcast the English dubbed version.
The good news is that the anime will return with a second season that will premiere in October 2024. Thus, fans can continue to look forward to the exciting adventures of BLUELOCK!
