The showdown between BOOM Esports and DRX occurred on Saturday, April 12, 2025, featuring a best of 3 (BO3) format. The teams faced off on the Icebox, Haven, and Ascent maps. This match held significant importance for both BOOM and DRX as they vied for the top position in the standings.
In the first game on Icebox, BOOM secured the initial pistol round and maintained their lead until DRX finally scored their first point in round 5. BOOM's disciplined strategy made it challenging for DRX during the first half.
The first half concluded with BOOM leading 8-4. As the second half began with the pistol round, BOOM added another point to their score. DRX attempted to close the gap, but in round 18, BOOM successfully prevented DRX from planting the spike, securing match point.
However, the battle was far from over for The Beasts. In round 21, NcSlasher took down two DRX players, while Dos9 eliminated MaKo, and BerserX took out free1ng, ensuring BOOM's victory in game 1 against DRX.
Transitioning to game 2 on Haven, BOOM once again took the lead by winning the first pistol round. DRX responded with a force buy in the following round, attempting to turn the tide. Nevertheless, BOOM held their ground and managed to equalize.
With BOOM ahead, the first half ended with a score of 7-5 in their favor. In the second half, DRX finally clinched their pistol round. A back-and-forth ensued, but BOOM regained the lead in round 19, putting them just one step away from victory.
DRX demonstrated their resilience once more. Despite BOOM reaching match point, they managed to equalize, pushing the match into overtime. With a strong performance, MaKo led DRX to victory, finishing the game with a score of 14-12.
In Game 3, titled Ascent, DRX once again secured the first pistol round. During the bonus round, BOOM managed to score their initial point. Despite trailing, BOOM successfully narrowed the gap against DRX. The first half concluded with DRX leading 7-5.
As the second half began, BOOM claimed another pistol round, with Famouz making a notable impact. Playing more effectively as attackers, BOOM took the lead, leaving DRX looking somewhat disoriented. Nevertheless, DRX held off BOOM's match point, with BeYN breaking the stalemate and scoring the first point for DRX in the second half.
In the 20th round, BerserX found himself in a challenging 1v2 situation with his Outlaw. Although the odds were against him, his strategic play was exceptional. He took down BeYN, and as MaKo attempted to defuse, BerserX struck at just the right moment, eliminating MaKo with Shortys.
BOOM reached match point, bringing them closer to victory. In the decisive round, Free1ng was taken out, followed by MaKo, as BOOM swiftly penetrated towards A. The remaining DRX players, HYUNMIN and Estrella, found themselves cornered, and BOOM successfully planted the spike.
With a 5v2 advantage, BOOM was in control. Dos9 eliminated HYUNMIN, and Famouz finished off Estrella, sealing the deal for BOOM Esports with a 2-1 victory over DRX. This remarkable outcome exceeded the expectations of many, as BOOM triumphed over DRX.
With this win, BOOM Esports maintained their position at the top of the standings with a perfect 4-0 record. They are set to face Detonation FocusMe in their final match before heading to the playoffs.
